LEXINGTONS BEST PUBLIC COURSE
Large greens in excellent shape. Fairways starting to green up. The layout is good and the work they are doing to thin out the trees is going to help in the future. I have played most of the area public courses and this is by far the best of the bunch. A meal at Lexington BBQ makes for a great day all the way around. Well worth playing. .

Had not thought of playing this course until my granddaughter played a Peggy Kirk Bell tournament here in late August.
Upon arrival we checked in and our price was $25.00 each (two seniors). The staff is very friendly and efficient. We had the second tee time and staff saw we were a twosome. He told us to go early to get out in front of a foursome. We were able to play a nice pace and stay ahead of the crowed.
The greens had been punched about a week previous to our round but they were not bad at all to putt. The fairways were in very good condition and the rough did present a challenge due to the thick grass. Keeping the ball in fairway makes the round significantly easier. Several holes do not require driver but places an importance on a correct distance and line to take advantage of the hole. I found the sand to be good and the traps were challenging with different angles to the greens.
The half-way house is very convenient between the 9's but it doesn't open until 10. With us being first ones out it was not open when we made the turn. We did stop by after the round and the service was very quick and friendly.
We enjoyed the round and will keep this on our list of courses to play when the home course is closed for maintenance or tournaments.
Great new greens
Course is well maintained and the new greens are very good. Non-members are treated well and can take advantage of the bar/grill area if desired.
Very nice place!
Overall the facilities were great, but 75% of the greens were covered with leaves, making it impossible to putt!
Always a pleasure to play here
New greens are beautiful but hard to hold. A challenging round of golf.
Awesome little find
I would highly recommend this course. I really enjoyed it. Very nice greens...firm but responsive. Some difficult sloping depending on pin placement. I played from the blues and found it to be challenging. Do yourself a favor and go play it....well worth it.
AWESOME!!!!
This is the nicest course around. The greens, fairways and even first cut of the rough are perfect! The staff was super nice. Will go back real soon. I would rank this TOP 3 in NC.
Awesome new greens recently installed.
This is a older course that has gone the extra mile and installed completely new greens. Course has very good layout that isn't very long. Staff is totally awesome and very helpful with tips for first timers to their facility. Looking forward to playing again this year and next when they will get those greens really up to speed. Going to be fun if you like very fast greens like i do!!
Great Course!
We played this course on a friday afternoon and had the course to ourselves. The course was in great shape, greens were a little slow but these are fairly new greens and should speed up as they mature. We were treated as if we were members of the country club, everyone was very helpful since this was our first time playing here. Can't wait to play again! I would recommend to anyone looking for a great course.
Course in perfect condition other than slow greens
Greens were recently redone and were very slow (understandable) Rough was a little severe in that it was difficult to find your ball just off the fairway. A little shorter might help speed up play. There were just 2 of us and the course was deserted, so we got around in just over 3hrs despite looking for balls in the rough. Once they can speed up the greens, this will be a tough test.
wonderful
omg - what a great course. One of the best kept, well-maintained courses in the triad. Truly impressive. We have a special asterisk next to Sapona RIdge. A great course, and we thank both Sapona, and Golfnow for introducing us. Can't wait to hurry back
Nice course to enjoy a quiet round.
Played around with my dad, it was nice and course management really help.
Decent course, staff was decent at best.
Country club feeling course, conditions were decent considering it was end of March.
Nice course that is getting better
Course was recently purchased by Nascar owner Richard Childress.
You can see that improvements are under way with new drainage being put in place on some of the greens, and repairs going on on the cart paths. The course has a nice mixture of holes, and the greens are in very good shape. My wife and I played for $11 each with GolfNow. That is a GREAT value for a country club style course. We played on a Wed. at 11:30, and we had the course to ourselves.
this course is has nice facilities
This course is a very nice layout and has some nice greens. But if it rains hard it does not drain very well with alot of holes down in the bottom. Wait a couple of days before to let it dry out.
The course was in great winter condition.
The course was in great winter condition. The greens were fast, but rolled true. Great value for the price paid.
Great facility
Driving range was handy. Staff was helpful. The course lays out well but needs better fairway markings..
Some challenging hole for the first time playing this course since local knowledge would certainly help with course management.
Very fun course.
The course was in great shape and very fun to play with many interesting holes, especially the par 4 16th. The course meanders through a pretty upscale neighborhood and was overall an extremely enjoyable experience. I would recommend it to anyone.
Beautiful layout
One of the nicest courses in the Triad. I wish I knew about this course in the in the past. I look forward to playing it again soon.
