Great for Weather Conditions
I liked everything about this course. It had received 4 inches of rain the night before we played. It was not cart-path-only and only a few holes had cart restrictions. The layout was was great
!
course just fair, needs attentiion
driving range not available after noon because located between holes. Not able to loosen up
. .
Holes on course not marked very well at all. Could use signage or some indication on cart path from green to next tee.. Inexpensive to rectify
Several tees in poor condition but greens were in terrific shape..A few fairways in sad condition
Would help to have images of hole layout on scorecard.or in tee area. A few blind spots so cannot see group ahead.
Gas golf carts without screens and distances are ancient. .
Emergency
I had a call from my mother’s nursing home as I was standing on the first tee box. I went and let the front desk know what happened as my mom was being rushed to the emergency room. They would not allow for a rain check. Said it was up to Golf now. I play this course frequently. 7 to 8 times a year. And live locally. And I know some members. To be treated this way is unprofessional and inappropriate in my opinion. I am debating on whether to go back to grassy Creek at all.
Has potential to be much better
Played this course the last four times while staying in the area traveling to Pennsylvania. Keep hoping it gets better. Staff is friendly, but upon checking in was told that it would be slow. Played as a single and tried to adjust my pace, but the group in front of me, although nice, had no concern for their pace of play. Tee boxes in general were in poor condition, and each hole had no signage. No directions to first tee. Could have used a ranger to speed up pace of play. At over 4 hours with still 4 holes to play I gave up. Unfortunately I most likely will not play here on my next trip through the area. Potential to be a great course.
Could be so much better….
First time playing here. Great staff! Course was in very good shape, however no tee box markers to help with distances and hole layout. Holes 11 and 12 are very dangerous. Hole 11 is a par 3. Cart path takes you beside green, however the 12th tee box is hitting directly into those playing or exiting the 11th green. Seemed very dangerous to me.
Yes I hope to play here again.
Neat Local Course
This was my first time playing Grassy Creek. I found it to be a neat little local course. Decent shape, decent layout, and pretty nice views of the surrounding mountains. I have two negative comments about the course. Number 1, the grass needs to be cut. The tees and fairway grass was pretty tall. I give them a little slack bc it was Sunday, so I doubt tees or fairways had been cut for a couple days, but it seems like they need to be cut lower. The fairway height was rough height at some places. Second, the greens were very firm and did not hold shots or chips well. I found the front 9 greens to be really slow, but the back 9 seemed much faster. Overall, if was a fun round on a new course with an interesting layout, and is worth a play if you are in the area.
Revived a great course.
I haven't played this course since last August. Immediately I could tell the course was under new management. First off, all the new bunkers are amazing. Even though I hit into them more then I'd like to admit, hitting out of the new quartz bunkers felt like I was at the Masters. Yes the bunkers are quartz. And as for the greens, definitely rolled true and were much faster then last year. Overall they stepped it up two notches in my book. Look for a hot deal and you can't go wrong. Just don't short side yourself. You won't get up and down. Trust me. Don't ask how I know.
