All Over the Place
Booked a tee time for 3pm on a Sunday, knowing full-well the weather called for early rain and late-day sun. Got a 'hot deal' on Golf Now (about half-price for a foursome) and we were willing to play the first 5-8 holes in rain, knowing the sun would soon come and provide us with exceptional weather on a near-empty course. Upon arrival, the counter person balked at allowing us out at the Golf Now rate - especially as a large fundraiser group had to start late sure to the weather. He called the manager, who proceeded to tell us 'we're getting rid of Golf Now, because of trouble like this', referring to bookin public play when the club had private outings scheduled (some kind of miscommunication between Golf Now and the club, itself). The club Manager offered to send us out for nine, but if the weather continued to be bad, he'd give us a raincheck at the turn, and close down the club.
As I'd expected, the weather cleared and the sun came out about six holes in. When we got to the turn, the Manager was waiting to greet us, and he had no objections to us making the turn and playing a full 18, now that the sun was out.
In the end, the weather, and an accomodating club Manager made for a wonderful foursome on a near-empty course. They do seem to have some issue with Golf Now, but they did honor the full conditions of our Golf Now booking.
The course, itself, is almost 90 years old, and surrounded by a Cleveland suburb. Lots of rolling hills and slopes, a few blind tee shots. Minimal water. Greens are challenging, but playing in the rain didn't give a fair impression of their true maintenance level. Will play again, but who knows how long they'll be part of the Golf Now network?
Ridge wood municipal
Only paid 19.00 for 18 holes and a cart on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The course was empty, which is very unusual for this course on a nice Saturday. Greens and tee boxes in great shape.
Needs Work
Nice fairways and tee boxes. Rough is really thick with lots of clover. That means lots of lost golf balls. Greens need some work. Not a very good test for good players. I drove the green on two holes and drove it over the green on another hole. My biggest complaint is that the starter sent two goofballs off the back nine as we were on the 9th green. So we had to wait on every shot while these guys hit it 7 or 8 times each hole. It took us an hour and half to play the front and 3 hours to play the back. Never again.
nice to play
The course is enjoyable to play. It has 5 par 3's, two over 200 yards. I will play it again when conditions are better as it rained the night before ahd high winds had the fairways covered with leaves. Standard rates for non-resident senior are too high compared to courses in the area but the golfnow hot deal rate is great.
could use a little work
played one morning before work and thought the course looked nice. Fairways looked good as well as tee boxes. Once I got to the greens, that was another story. my first was about 15 feet and I watched it bounce all the way to the hole as it moved off my line. Greens looked like tiny meteorites fell from the sky and landed nowhere but on the greens. Word of the day was 3 putt!
If they can maintain the greens, It would have been pleasant!
Difficult greens
They were aerating the fairways so it is hard to review and the weather has effected the fairways and greens. This course is usually in better condition.
Course improved from last year.
Group in front of us on the back nine was. Exceptionally slow. They were 2holes behind and we didn't catch them until the 13th hole. Course needs a ranger to keep play flowing. Otherwise, course conditions have improved from last year. Greens keeping staff are more courteous than last year.
don't waste your time or money on this course
fairway burned out.after all the rain we received how is this possible. tee boxes mostly dirt. green slow and full of ball marks.
after a 3 hour front nine because of one group. called the club house about the problem but they ddnt have the time to come out and address the problem group. so we sat and watched one group take 12 tee shot off one tee. then they had to find there balls. this is the kind of people that play and ruin it for the other golfers.
LONG STORY SHORT DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COURSE
Good course to play if its a "Hot Deal"
I have played this course a few times. It is a solid public course in ohio. Not too expensive and decently up-kept. Only problem was the course was extremely backed up. I was in a two-some and we waited at the tee box for two groups from 4-9. After we made the turn it cleared up a bunch. Some nice par-3's and a 600 yd par 5 offers some variety. The back is more scenic than the front 9 and less crowded. Good parma course but EXTREMELY fast greens when I played a few days ago, had to be the fastest i've played all year anywhere.
Needs work
This is a municipal course that caters to the neighborhood crowd. If you live in the area and just want to get out and play it is fine. If you are looking for a good golf course however, keep looking because this is not the place. Many of the greens are burned out and chopped up, the fairways and cart paths are also in poor condition.
Decent Course for the Money and Local.
Older Course in the middle of a metro area so it's usually pretty darn busy. Play EARLY, once 11am hits they do let any ole "yahoo" out to play which means you have "tank top wanabe golfers" with NO "pace of play" enforcement. So... if your behind these groups you can get frustrated. With every cloud there is a silver lining and that would be these folks don't get up before 10am. So.... tee off between 7am - 8am and you will have a great round. Fun, decent course that I'd play again "in a pinch".
Much Improvment!
Since Ted, the former greens keeper passed away this place is becoming a course I can almost say I am proud of! over the course of this summer so far I have probably played 10-15 times.
They have started to ROLL the greens and have installed Barber polls at the 150's in the middle of the fairway.. It gives it a higher class feel. They have cleaned out all the dead branches and leaves from under the trees. I can tell that the new greens keeper is making the grounds crew actually work! the traps need help still, new sand and need to be raked more,, the only thing that still bugs me is they don't take tee times, unless you can get a deal through Golf Now, and those are few and far between.. all in all great improvements and hope to see more!
Decent muni track
Course opened in 1925...clubhouse is nothing to speak of but its an interesting track. 35 on the front 37 on the back. Needs to be played a few times to get the feel for where to hit the ball. Course was in good shape. Only complaint, hitting out of the bunkers was like hitting off hardpan. Memorable moment, my buddy chipped in for eagle on #5.
Pleasantly surprising, especially given it's location.
Great experience! Course was in really good shape. The fairways were very nice and the greens were excellent! I kept thinking... "I can't believe this course is in the middle of Parma, OH". Some beautiful holes. I was really surprised. I hadn't played it in over 20 years, but I will go back. It was much better than I anticipated. Not a long course at just under 6,100 yards from the blues, but definitely enjoyable.
packed
course was incredibly backed up and most of the 18 you were hitting into other people. Some holes were too close together. The course wasn't bad, and the greens were in good shape. However the most annoying part about being on a course that is backed up is that their entire maintenance crew was out cutting grass and planting flowers. On at least half of the holes i had to wait for the group of walkers ahead of us and THEN for the lawnmower guys to get out of the way. Between the packed course, tight layout, and disrespectful maintenance it was a lot of commotion. The course itself wasn't terrible, nothing to rave about, but i did not have fun playing here.
This was on a friday at Noon
nice course to play anytime
played hear and staff very friendly and the pace of play was great not waiting to long to play
