Silver Lake Golf Course

About
Silver Lake Golf Course sits along Staten Island's North Shore, offering a scenic and challenging layout that is one of the five boroughs' best-kept secrets. The course has a classic layout with postage stamp-sized greens and narrow fairways. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the golf course appears shorter than it plays. The tight layout demands accuracy throughout especially on the lengthier holes, of which there are several. The course offers interesting risk-reward opportunities and holes 12 through 14 are considered by locals the "Amen Corner" of the North. The entire layout will test your shot-making abilities. In addition to the challenging round, Silver Lake is known for having consistently excellent conditions with some of New York's best greens, which is why it has garnered a strong following among local players.

One of my favs in 5 Boros
Course is well maintained- greens roll true. No range, small putting area- well run facility. Nice old warm charm including bar and dining area
Best course on Staten Island
Silver Lakes is IMO the best track on Staten Island, fun course to play with some challenging holes but can certainly shoot low if you manage play properly. The only thing I can really knock this course for is pace of play. Not sure if they need to eliminate some tee times or have a couple extra rangers patrolling the course to make sure people aren’t taking a year to hit their next shot.
Bottom line: Great course (Covid pretty much killed value with demand for golf increasing) good amenities, fun atmosphere, BUT don’t tee off after NOON or you won’t finish 18 before it gets dark
Only thing missing...
There's no driving range to warm up for the round. Heads up on other golfers from the other tee boxes, a few ball landed within 5 yards of where My friends an I was standing out on the fairway. Overall, the course is challenging, currently aerating the greens but in good condition compared to other public courses. Will definitely play at this course again soon I hope.
Over priced for no reason
I’ve played silver lake plenty of times and I just find it absolutely ridiculous that they have the nerve to charge $73 for a round and then $16 per person for a cart…. For $90 I’d rather pay the toll and play a nicer course in NJ for a similar if not cheaper price
Great Public Course
I am new to the East Coast and I have been trying to explore my public course options. Silver lake was honestly great. With an exception of some snow (I went shortly after a storm) it was in phenomenal shape. The course layout was also amazing; however, the staff stole the show. The staff was extremely friendly and took great care of me. I have no complaints regarding this course and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone around the area.
Not ADA Friendly
I have a handicap that limits me to 9 holes with a cart. Other courses have 9 hole rates, why can’t the ones on Staten Island?
Fast greens
The greens were in great shape and the fastest they’ve ever been since I started playing there 3 years ago. Some tee boxes a little beat up, but it was the end of the season.
All was and is good!!!
As usual all is good too many leaves but then again I was out there in the afternoon
My Favorite Course on SI
I play this course quite often, and it’s always in pristine condition! So I left something of value in the cart, and didn’t realize until I got home. I called the course and spoke to “Bruce” I believe he said his name was. I explained what I left and he went above and beyond to talk to another employee and stated they found what I was missing! Thank you, Bruce, for your professionalism and to Silver Lake Golf Course “The Working Man’s Country Club”!
