Allentown Municipal Golf Course

Gotta love November golf. Course is clean from leaves. Fairways are good. Greens recently aired but recovering nicely. Couple weeks and they will be back to normal.

Course looks nice. Greens rolling good. Tee boxes and sand traps a little rough, but nice fairways make up for it.

Was pleasantly impressed by this course after hearing many good things about it and expecting to be let down. Great value for the cost. Layout is interesting with well placed bunkers and a few water hazards. Well kept fairways. The rough is thick and tough most everywhere on course. Hitting fairways is key. Undulating greens are firm and FAST, putts roll true. Course has a range, putting greens, easy to get loosened up.
Overall I think this is one of the top values in the Lehigh Valley, on par as a cost /conditions value with Olde Homestead and RiverView. Sure there are nicer courses in the Valley but you’ll pay for them. And there are some dog tracks that will cost the same as a round at this Muni.

Greens rolled fast. And it was a little wet. Dry greens must be like lightning fast. Fairways and tee boxes nice. First cut around greens really short. Putted from off the green all day.

Greens were bumpy. Tough to make a putt. Everything else was nice and green.

Allentown Muni is a tremendous facility with great value. Conditions are what you'd find at a country club. Varied holes with no two alike. Very playable and can be very challenging from back set of tees. Short game area, driving range and restaurant/bar on site make for a great experience. Staff very friendly. I routinely make 1hour drive weekly to play. Well worth it!

We know that greens need to be aerated but you should tell players before they drive an hour to get there , I called the pro shop twice to ask a couple of question since we never played here before and they never said a word about aerating. This was over an hour drive for us . Even as we paid at the pro shop not a word , the starter told us as we checked in , but he never told us that one green was closed with a temporary flag and 8" hole in the fairway , and the sprinklers were going full blast and covering the temporary flag ? Greens were un-puttable , tee boxes neglected as well as most of the course, this was all from lack of taking care of the course . The layout of the course was good but its a shame they don't take care of it , if the city of Allentown owns it they need some help running it . We played 10 miles away at Bethlehem Municipal two weeks earlier and the course was in excellent shape with beautiful greens , so they cannot blame the weather at Allentown . Get your act together Allentown or at least give a warning of what to expect.

I'm in a league at this course and it's in the greatest shape it's been in years. Moderate to challenging course layout with some water hazards, narrow fairways, and minor elevation changes; but also has some wide open holes for the higher handicaps.
