Very disappointed in course conditions
Played this course for the first time today. Was very disappointed in the course conditions. Greens were not mowed, sand traps are unplayable either due to puddles of water or the grass and weeds growing in them. Lots of bare spots on fairways and the rough has been grown up too high. There are other courses in this area that are comparable in price that are in much better condition.
Course wasn't groomed very well, greens are slow.
For being Arnold Palmers first designed course, I was expecting a lot better course. Tee boxes were not cut, rough was not groomed very well, there was no sand in any of the bunkers, and the greens were very long. It looks like it needs some tender loving care that just wasn't there.
A Fading Beauty
I've played this course 5-7 times over the past 15 years, it is private and occasionally opened up to the public. I've always jumped at the chance to play, the layout is fantastic and the course was always in good, if not great condition. That is not the case anymore. Indian Lake GC has fallen on hard times. The bunkers are mostly unplayable, the tee boxes were in poor condition, and the greens had many rough, burned-out patches. The hot deal we booked for $20 was more of a tepid deal based on the course conditions. This place simply needs some attention paid to it, as Indian Lake GC appears like it has been largely neglected by the staff. Nonetheless, with some good ol' TLC this course can become great again.
Worth the drive
This course used to be a private club. I booked a round on Golfnow.com and went to Northwinds G.C. thinking NW was listed as such. NW called over to Indian Lake and verified my tee time. Northwinds is also a good course to play in this area. I was under the impression that Indian Lakes golf club was private. I am glad it is not private. The course is well maintained except the tee boxes were not cut the day we played. Fairways are tight, greens are large and well manicured. Fairways like a carpet in most places. We did not eat there so no idea about food. Worth the drive for those out of town.
Beautiful wooded setting
Very tight, interesting layout. Setting is deep woods lots of wildlife.
Fun course would be great in the spring or summer.
We loved this course very well built with almost every hole seemed to be private the first 9 holes dogleg to the right and the last 9 dogleg to to left so a good mix in the way the holes are set up our only problem with the course was a mother nature problem leaves ,fall , and golf balls don't mix but this course was awesome.
Tough course for a beginner
Indian Lake is really pretty and worth a stop if you find yourself in the area. The clubhouse facilities are far from the best, but the course itself is in great shape overall and more than challenging enough for me. The only thing I would pick about it is that even though it is Fall it doesn't look like they make much of an effort to keep the leaves off of the greens let alone the fairways. Hence I lost a lot of balls ( a real lot)!
Course is very challenging
course was wet - and some of the greens a bit rough (but we played shortly after a wet weather spell
excellent golf course
would have liked it better if it was'nt so wet. not the fault of the course
