My favorite course in Charlotte
Excellent course, staff and amenities. 5 Stars all around.
Play It While You Can
This is a great course, but closes December 31st so they can build houses and corporate offices they don't need. The course is extremely scenic and the finishing holes are incredible. This is a gem you should play before it's gone.
Great course, coming back.
Hope this course keeps on open. one of bests in the surrounding area. Good experience..
Not worth the money
I like the Ballantyne Resort and I have played there many times. When it is in good shape it can be worth the money to play. It is getting late in the season now and there were so many leaves on the ground you could lose your golf ball even in the fairway. The bunkers are in terrible condition and a lot of the tees are in bad shape too. I would say the greens are in pretty good shape though, but overall it isn’t worth the money right now.
Fantastic, except....
I don’t know what was on the go with the tee boxes today but they were the worst I’ve ever seen. 3 inches long??? With a bare spot down to the sand to tee off from.? Not sure if it has been way to raining for weeks to cut them but they were embarrassing for a club of such repute and fees. This picture was one of the better ones. Had a good laugh at them though, so there’s that.
Beautiful course, really enjoyed it.
A Day with nature. Golf Day.
Nice Challenging course to play. Love the undulating hills and sloping fairways. It challenges your game management skills. Great Course.
Sad to hear it’s going
Great layout and very challenging from the tips. Conditions were great after recent rain and greens were true. Staff member Tom was very nice/helpful for a first timer plying course and we spoke about the fact that this course will be gone in Apr next yr.
front nine is tough and long as no pay 4’s playing under 400yds Tight in some areas and back now is very scenic going thru all the buildings in area.
Pace of play was fantastic and we finished sub 4 hrs. Will be back before they close this track down.
Picnic at the Snack Bar
It was a beautiful day for a picnic on the golf course
Post-Apocalyptic Bunker
They know they're closing soon so they've stopped taking care of things - just take a look at this sand trap:
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The course is in great shape fast greens and tee boxes and fairways are very good. Looking forward to playing again soon.
Happy Birthday to me
My wife wanted to get me a gift certificate for golf since I am an avid golfer and I told her I would love to play at Ballantyne Resort. I used to play there years ago but I play 100+ times per year and those rates add up.
Yesterday was my birthday and I decided to take off to go play. I checked Golf Now to see what the rates and availability was and saw they were slow on a Tuesday as one would expect and the rate was listed as $56.
I arrived at the course to find that they were charging $62 despite my mentioning that they were online at $56. If it weren't for the gift card, I would have voided the transaction and booked through Golf Now but they had me over a barrel. It was a beautiful day and I wasn't going to let that sour my mood. I was paired with a couple of nice gentlemen and we had a nice round.
However, I was disappointed to see the condition of all the sand traps. They looked like there had been wrestling matches in them. They were unplayable and it wasn't just that they were not raked due to Covid. I play a lot of golf and even the cheaper courses will run a rake behind a mower through them.
I mentioned it to the 2 cart gentlemen on my way out that I didn't think their conditions matched their fees and they tried to tell me they were attended to the day before.
Next year, I'll pick another place to play for any special occasion.
Happy Birthday to me.
