Tanglewood Golf Club - Reynolds Course

About
Tanglewood in Clemmons is home to two 18-hole courses, the Championship Course and the Reynolds Course, both designed by Robert Trent Jones. Golf Digest has ranked the Reynolds Course as one of the top 75 public courses in the country. At 7,101 yards from the back tees, the golf course may lack the length of modern courses but it has all of the challenges. The sloping fairways are lined with trees and there are several doglegs that demand draws and fades from the back tees. The final hole is considered the most difficult at Tanglewood. This narrow, twisting par 4 climbs an uphill fairway guarded by a deep bunker on the left and mature woods on the right. You'll need a long, straight tee shot in order to have a chance at hitting the tiny, elevated green, which is also well protected by bunkers.

Don't Bother
The Reynolds Course is overpriced. There was no price drop for recent aeration and no mention beforehand. The Championship Course had green fairways and the Reynolds Course looked like a barren wasteland. The Reynolds was placement golf with narrow dog legs and very little upkeep. We teed off just before lunch and 4 hours later we still had 5 holes left to play. We had enough and left. The drive to 10 was unmarked and about a mile from clubhouse. The only positive were the par 3s which were nice looking holes except for the punched greens and the dirt tee boxes. I've played thousands of rounds of golf and I will never go back. A 25 dollar Course at best.
Course conditions and staff
For $45 (w/range balls), you would think the course would be exceptional. Far from it. The Reynolds Course is not worth the money unless you like little to no grass on most of the tee boxes and several areas in most of the fairways. Hopefully, you won't be a little disappointed when you turn in your cart because you will not be greeted by a friendly staff member. This guy has the personality of a rock. Not friendly at all. For less money, I recommend Salem Glen, Reynolds Park or even Olde Homeplace. Much nicer courses.
After playing 20 courses around the Winston/Greensboro area, I finally played a course that was just not in good condition. Tee boxes, greens, fairways and rough just not in good shape. The holes you see from road not in the worst condition, but majority of the holes just in poor condition to say the least.
There is so many options at this price range within an hour of this location, I cant imagine why you would play here.
I was quite surprised seeing all the reviews, hopefully this review saves someone some time to not play here.
Target golf and worth playing for the price point.
Target golf. I pulled out driver 5 times total and played from the blues, which is just under 6100 yards. December golf so cannot ask a lot, but greens rolled true. I would play it again and definitely change my club selection to get better attack angles.
12/12 Reynolds
Course was a little wet which was strange since we have t had rain in over a week. Aside from that the course was as good as it gets for December. Greens were great and pace of play was outstanding. We played as a twosome and finished right at 4 hours.
Very Nice Course
Played for first time today. The course is nicely maintained and the greens were excellent. Only issue was very slow play. Sometimes two groups waiting to tee off. Other issue is no course layouts except online so Unsure of the various hole layouts.
Good late season round!
Greens in great shape. Played a day after raining. Course was wet but extremely well kept. Greens rolled pure! Had a lot of fun.
Challenging course.
This Robert Trent Jones Sr designed course is a very good value but should not be played by inexperienced golfers as it is narrow and very challenging.
Great course but slow
Wonderful course and weather was perfect for the time of year, only problem was the pace, took 5.25 hours.
Reynolds at Tanglewood
