Interesting layout that is both good and bad
This course was in fantastic condition for this time of year in New England and the greens really stood out as some of the best I have played in the area. The layout on the hand was tough to understand sometimes, especially the par 5's. One two of the 5's, a good tee shot left you with two kind of odd decisions to choose from, either lay up behind water which was about 100-120 years away of have to fly the water with your second shot which was about a 200-220 carry. The course is loaded with bunkers and a few well placed hazards. And lastly, the final four holes on the bay are fantastic with great views of the water. If you get the chance play this old, throwback New England course.
great place but not worth $$
this is a tricky thing to write about. The course conditions are fantastic, but not of the money. the membership is more than a membership at a much more prestigious course like bay hill in florida. as for the course tee boxed are great, fairways also. the rough in some parts is littered with divots. the greens are the hardest i have ever played, if you tap the ball the ball is probably going off the green if you haven't played here before. clubhouse is outdated, food is ok and the pool is outdated. i understand not rebuilding the clubhouse because of the historic value but it is really mostly outdated.i like the course don't get me wrong but it is worth probably a little less than half the money of membership. i only recommend going as guest it is a must play at least once.
