Green Valley Country Club

So I drove from Waltham Ma. Down to Portsmouth RI. 70 miles ,All the way looking forward to to a great day of golf on a beautiful Donald Ross course. Only to find the place completely closed up. There were about 10 other angered golfers standing around in the parking lot. Can’t give the course an honest review other than poor communications between GolfPass and Green Valley exist. I hope my charge card wasn’t charged.
I am a past Golf Course Superintendent would say the appearance looked well kept.

Playing golf in RI in mid Nov. What's not to like! Most of the area courses have an abundance of leaves increasing the likelihood of losing a ball and having to invoke the "leaf rule". Green Valley has kept up with the seasonal cleanup plus the greens and fairways were in great shape. The earlier aerating of the greens have now healed allowing for great putting conditions.

Only got to play 9 since we started late. Will definitely come back to play 18. Course was in great condition.

Played the course in early Nov. unlike some other local courses, the leaves were managed well. Greens still healing from aeration, but not terrible.

Fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. Play was slow as the starter was letting 2 and 3s out, and even though players dropped off after 9, pace on back was still slow.

Overall, very enjoyable but there’s always room for improvement.

Loved the course very much and will be back with many of my friends.

The foursome in front of us were painfully slow,
they did let one twosome play through them ,
but were concerned that doing that all afternoon would extend their round…(so they extended everyone else’s round behind them ?!)

A lot of beginners go to this golf course so it’s very slow

First time there, little delay teeing off because course had a delay because of work being done in the morning but they got all golfers off in a timely fashion. They did a nice job. Course itself was great and well manicured. It definitely played long. I loved the layout and the overall attention to detail. It was worth the 1 1/2 hour drive. I’ll definitely be back . Definitely recommended.

People are very nice and it’s a lovely setting. Plays very long which is its major defense. Holes are good if not particularly memorable, especially on the front.

The course is typical of a highly played public course. Lots of unfixed ball marks on the green, very rough and uneven tee boxes.

But they need to work on pace of play. We had a 1:38 tee time and didn’t get off until a while later. We were a threesome and we waited at every hole, even after consecutive par 3s. Probably 45 minutes of waiting.

Much of this is to be expected expected from a public track with a lot of rounds and a lot of the issues could be solved by more courteous players For that reason I will be back and would gladly recommend.
