The course was in playable condition for mid winter

Super fast greens which can keep you guessing. Can’t see the small breaks because it’s so even in appearance. It’s good value for the money and a good place to warm up before hitting the premium courses.

Hyland is consistently in good shape. Greens are amazing. Tee boxes are good. Bunkers are good. Fairways are getting better as they installed irrigation within the year so some fairways are still growing in. Very good course.

Conditions getting better. Layout a lot of fun to play. Excellent challenge.

The conditions are improving even under extreme conditions(no rain) and the layout is darn good. Maybe a bit too hard, but maybe I just need more game.

The course conditions have greatly improved from the last time I played it, in 2019. The greens were fast, the fairways and tee boxes were in pretty good condition for this time of year and the sand traps good. The driving range is not very good, but it’s included with your green fee, so hard to complain about free. Staff were very friendly
The only issue I have with the course is the slow play. They were sending out fivesomes!

Played this course in 2019 and it was in terrible condition. Greens were actually spray painted green. Left the course before finishing 18.
Today the course conditions are much improved! Fast, tricky greens, good amount of sand in the traps and fairways and tee boxes are showing some wear but nothing terrible considering the time of year.
What we didn’t appreciate was having to play behind a group of 5. Not cool that the course would allow this especially as we were a twosome.

My group just completed our annual Pinehurst trip and played Hyland for the first time and we were beyond impressed. I’m truly convinced that all the bad reviews for this place are from the bigger name courses trying to keep Hyland hidden as one of the best in the area.

My group isn’t a bunch of fancy country clubbers, we’re +5 to +15 handicaps that like to have fun, relaxed golf experiences. Our favorite is Tobacco Road but Hyland is a very very close second place. Course was in immaculate condition and greens were some of the best and challenging we’ve played. Staff were awesome and the whole vibe about the place was perfect for us. For the price, the place is a straight up steal. This will be a part of our annual trip moving forward and I’m sad it hasn’t been before.

If you can't get on one of the"Pinehurst" Courses on your next vacation trip to Pinehurst then try "Hyland". It is close by the Pinehurst Village and certainly gives you a chance to play while waiting for a chance to play 1-10 @ Pinehurst. The greens at Hyland are very large with a very excellent and uniform putting surface. Very fast greens in my opinion. Fairways are good, very underlating.

The greens at this golf course are some of the best I’ve ever played in the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area. I definitely recommend this course for those visiting the area.

The course was subject to heavy rain the day before I played. The course conditions were excellent. Very little standing water, and the greens were consistent hole to hole. I will definitely play here again when I am in the area again. As a veteran, I appreciate the ownership and management of this course.

I have always liked this course but it has gotten too expensive for me. It’s not a $80 course. The greens were in good shape though.

A very nice course that the new ownership is in the process of rejuvenating. The greens were very good and the layout also nice. My first time playing and I’ll definitely go back. The only reason I gave a four star on conditions was because I played after Debbie and it was pretty wet, but playable. I highly recommend this course.

My first time playing Hyland and I’ll definitely come back. The new owners are working hard to bring it back from disrepair and they’re succeeding. The layout is nice and the greens very true. I played right after Debbie so a bit wet but still very playable. It is a good test. I highly recommend this course.
