Terrible conditions and staff
Southgate golf clubs is by far the worst course I’ve ever played. Not only was it the worst conditions I’ve ever seen, the staff were careless and rude. The tee boxes were hard mud with no grass in sight. The greens had obviously been neglected with tire marks, divots, and dead spots everywhere. Bunkers were not raked. Half of the fairways were just hard dirt that you couldn’t even swing an iron on for fear of it getting damaged by the atrocious conditions. The ponds were so murky you couldn’t even see the bottom at the edge and smelled strongly of goose poop. I can forgive them for the dry conditions as we are just starting spring but it is unacceptable to be playing on dirt. If this isn’t enough to scare you away maybe the staff rudely pressuring you into buying another cart will. That’s not even the worst of it. There were teenage boys running around to snatch up your ball before your group was even finished teeing off. I had to try not to hit them as they were running out directly in front of the tee box. After one of my parters hit his drive short we could hear one of the kids yell “oh that one’s ours!” I would never wish this kind of conditions on my greatest enemy. No golfer should ever be put through these torturous conditions. I am honestly disappointed by this course seeing how none of the other Saint George golf courses I’ve played have been even half as horrible as this course. Do better. My money would have been better spent of literally anything else. One star, never coming back to this course again.

So dry, rude staff, teenagers running in front of tee boxes and taking the ball I hit, and torn up greens.
Never visiting again.

Excellent experience; course in great shape
The course was in very good condition and allowed great play; no issues with course variations affecting the ball; the pace of play was somewhat slow because it was very busy, but the course was fun to play; this is a common destination course for our group when we travel to St. George.
Course in great shape, very good experience
It was a busy day at the course with lots of groups which slowed the pace; however, the course was in excellent shape, and the weather was quite refreshing; we drove down from Salt Lake City to play, and the 4 hour drive was definitely worth it; we play Southgate GC during the winter season regularly; the staff is friendly, and the course is well maintained
Always a great experience
Whenever I am in St. George, Southgate is always a consideration for me to play because it is a great experience; the staff is very friendly and easy to work with, and the course provides great challenges for every level of player.
Great Course!
This was a great course, and the water features especially on the front nine added plenty of variety and some difficulty. I would recommend that you use a cart for this course, as the holes are pretty spread out.
SouthGate
Weather was good but the wind picked up an made it challenging.
Score card only provides yardages, no pictures of dog legs or yardage to hazards so played more conservatively.
Several greens are multi-tiered which made putting even more challenging.
2 different nines
First nine was pretty basic and kind of disappointing but the back nine was very nice and challenging. I would play the course again just to play the back. Lots of elevation change and every hole nice.
velvet greens
Southgate is in beautiful shape. The front 9 is very nice. A couple of ponds and some up and downs. The back nine is really great. Elevated Tees, uphill greens, rolling fairways. another pond to cross to a par 3. All carry on this one. This is a course for all to play. Many walk the front 9 and ride the back because of the hills.
We highly recomend this one !
Fun Day
Very well marked. A fun course. Sand traps were not good sand.
Well Maintained Municipal Course
Not too difficult course but nice set up. Course was in good condition with greens in nice shape and true. Very good value for your dollar.
Nice track
Play was a little slow but as soon as we got through the picture taking foursome, it pick up and was great!
Southgate
A good value for the money. Variety of holes. Some short par 3s Nd long par fives make it a course of vRiety and challenge By using golf now prepaid feature it was only$25.00
Back nine best
Front nine decent, back nine much more challenging, elevation changes ,views.
Fun and challenging
Beautiful, fun course. Nice variety of challenges. Weather was perfect. Of the 100 plus courses I have played this is the best one for the money.
Back 9 was awesome! Staff not so much.
Staff not friendly. Seemed very greedy and questioned my golf now price and tried to charge me full price and that all I paid for was a designated tee time and not a designated green fee. Uh... Yeah not quite how it works.
Lots of par 3's.
Very soft greens loved it.
Great layout
Great variety of par 3's, 4's and 5's. Greens were in great condition.
I will be back again.
fun layout, but in rough shape.
This course has a fun, challenging, yet scorable layout. I had called ahead of time to make sure they had not aerated the greens yet. I was told not for a couple more days, but they had been! Well at least all but 3 or 4 of them were. The course in about 65 percent dried out as well. Give it til beginning of October and it will be in great shape I bet!
Utah golfing
Nice course, great value! Really long course layout so glad the cart was included. Really enjoyed our round. Would go again.
Interesting and challenging at a decent price
You'll enjoy two distinct nines--front is fairly flat with several water holes and a tough finisher; back is up and down canyons with three fun par 5s.
