Country Club of Barre

What a great year for Country Club of Barre. Course was in fantastic shape all year long. Every guest who comes and plays with me raves about the course and what a bargain it is compared to other course of this stature. Bring your A game!

I was a member here for 30 years (no longer) and my advice is don't play Barre on Mondays. While they charge full greens fee, the restaurant is closed on Mondays so there's no food, no beverages. Couldn't even have a post-round beer or grab a hot dog or sandwich. If they don't provide full amenities they shouldn't charge full price. My two out-of-town guests were not impressed.

Barre is always my favorite place to play! The greens are always in great shape, staff is friendly, carts are clean and run great. My husband loves to play frequently and has been a member for years, and that has gotten me to love to play as well! Whether you are serious about your golf game, or just starting out, Barre can accommodate anyone for a fun/productive season.

I have played this course about a dozens times this season. It requires good ball striking as well as a good short game (if you miss the green in the wrong place one will definitely be penalized). As I am not a long hitter it makes the course a little more demanding as quite often I am unable to approach the greens with any club shorter than an 8 iron (I play from the white tees). If one is a long hitter (air carry the driver 260 or longer) it should really come down to how good one putts to play well here as a driver will not be necessary here and if used will only be a short pitch on most holes. The greens probably are the most difficult aspect here as they are generally fast and some have quite a bit of slope to them (especially 6, 10, 11 and 18), in fact I think 18 borders on being unfair. All in all the course has a lot of character as all the holes are different and have various challenges to them.

This is a great course in fine shape, Greens were true and fast, Fairways in great shape.
Could use more signage to get to course.

Lots of hp and down with nice views. Old school layout and not just placed over old farmland. Greens were fast (for Vermont) but fair. Always a good challenge.

Very nice, well maintained golf course. Our third time playing there. But definitely not our last. It is 45 miles away. But worth the ride. If you like fast greens. This one is not to be missed.

Greens are tough to play when approaching with 6 irons. Fast greens and sometimes unforgiving. A bit fast for some of the slopes.

The course had beautiful Mountain views. A challenging course with a great layout.

It is a bit hard to locate but, is very good course to play . In great shape and has a unique layout and fun to play.

The course was in excellent condition even in the dry conditions. Greens were fast and true.

Course was in excellent condition. You need to keep the ball in the fairway since the rough is thick. Be below the hole on most greens.

The greens were recently punched, but were still remarkably true and way faster than any other course I've played in this area - very nice. The fairways and tee boxes were in very good condition. Pretty good layout with a number of scenic vistas. Some tight driving holes require solid precision from the tee. All in all, a challenging but mostly solid layout. Staff was super friendly, and there's a great outdoor deck overlooking the 18th green , ideal for a post round drink. I posted almost 200 rounds last year, and this is one track that I look forward to playing again.

As always the CC of Barre was a great day. Booked the round online - had no issue checking in. Picked up a cocktail pre round - breezed thru the front 9, had to weather a minor hail storm before turning but continued on and really enjoyed the day. The greens were firm and fast but putted true. Fairways and rough were manageable, and the bunkers were well maintained as always. We venture here a couple times a season, and only wish it was closer so we could join!
