Bent Tree Golf Club

About
The lush, rolling terrain occupied by Bent Tree Golf Club was sculpted into one of the most popular championship golf courses in central Ohio. Dennis Griffiths, the course's architect, seamlessly blended the design with the natural features of the landscape. The abundant natural water hazards come into play on half the holes and Griffiths strategically incorporated several well placed bunkers. The terrain's gentle undulations provide some interesting slope in the greens that place a priority on accuracy. Bent Tree Golf Club's par-4 eighth hole is especially demanding. It may be short at only 334 yards but it is surrounded by bunkers on all sides. It is followed by another tricky par 4 that requires both distance and accuracy in order to navigate the tree-lined fairway uphill to an undulating green faced with bunkers to the front and back.

Loved the course
Played on an cold rainy Monday morning. Course was great. Will definitely be back when the weather is nicer to get a full feel for the course!
Awful Condition
The staff seems to have given up. The course itself was in the worst condition I've ever seen a semi-reputable course in. Tee markers were down or completely gone on a few holes and the fairways looked like they had been abandoned for months. We waited a good while for a staffer to arrive at the concession, only after we found someone else to go get her. No apologies. Won't go back.
Still trying?
A couple of introductory comments: (1) This was one of my favorite courses in Central Ohio for 20+ years, so I might be biased; (2) I had read all of the negative reviews about the conditions since the change of ownership, so this was my first time out there this year, and I was not expecting much going in... Those things having been said, I would say this: It's still a great course with a great layout, a friendly staff, and nice off-course amenities. The course is not in great shape (numerous spots where fairways were obviously burned out, tees not mowed, etc), but it's much better than I expected, and it is clear that they are trying to get it back into shape. The tees and greens had been aerated and sanded, and there were numerous people out working all over the course. Still hoping for a comeback for what was once a great course!
golfing
Good course, Pace of play was excellent right after an outing. course was east to navigate, had to play some target golf hit to area. will play again
A Great Layout Marred By Course Care
I get it's late in the year but for how good of a layout this is, the course is in AWFUL shape. Looks like tractors have been running over most of it constantly. The saving grace is how good of condition the greens are in. Really appreciate the care here. Fairways and sand traps are pitiful.
Still, enjoyed the time but DO NOT pay full price for this.
Fine for the price
It smells when you walk into the building. Sulfur and the amenities are lacking. Out of many beverages as well at the turn. Staff is nice. Pace of place was slow and had to wait on every hole. All the greens are horrible and the tee boxes were definitely in need of work. Only hole that was decent was the 18 th.
Save your money
Save your money. Tee boxes were awful. Greens were the only thing maintained. For $60 I figured they would water a little more than the greens to fight the drought.
Just close the doors
I hope they are closing this course. Maybe they sold it. The grass is all gone. They should just close the building, get rid of all staff, and let people go walk and play for free if they want to. Ever since they sold to Kemper sports, four of the six courses look like dead fields. Worse courses I’ve ever seen. I’m a member. Wish I’d known then they would let these courses become cow pastures. I’d like to know what their plans are for the course. Really bad place.
Is the course selling?
This course had the worst tee boxes I have ever seen. No yardage markers and terrible fairways.
Course condition suspect
The tees were in very poor shape along with the fairways all the grass was dead and mostly sand in the tee boxes. None of the sand traps were in playing condition the only thing that was good was the greens in pretty good shape except no one repairs there ball marks.
Burned out
It’s a shame they have let this course fall so far from its past glory. Ben tree has always been a good spot to have a nice round but they just are paying to keep it up. You have to water and keep your tee boxes and bunkers in a presentable condition, they are doing none of the things. The Greens were ok.
Pace of play…
If this course was a book, it would be the tortoise and the hare. But a version of the book where the hare doesn’t really exist at all and it’s just the tortoise slowly moving along without letting A SOUL play through. There needs to be a marshal riding around telling people to hurry up. Staff is excellent, golfers need to learn common courtesy
