Very expensive for very poor conditions
To be fair, the course has new owners who are spending a lot of money on improvements. I agree that this work takes time. However, the public is expected to play thru the work in progress. There are 2 temporary greens that actually look long term. There is not a practice putting green. In fact, there hasn't been one for over 2 years and the pitching area is also closed indefinitely. Yes, they do have new power carts as do most other courses. However, despite the negative conditions, the owners have increased the prices as of May 1st. REALITY, there are better conditions for the same of less money in the same area! Your choice but I would wait for the improvements before paying the full price.
A underrated gem of a course
This is one of the best and most challenging courses in the county. It is not a prestige golf course but it is great for those that enjoy terrain courses. Featuring some fantastic tees and well placed and landscaped greens it is a course that can be both challenging and enjoyable for all skill levels. Cart is recommended.
Peaceful Golf
This course is absolutely the most relaxing and fair challenges in Washington State. My group considers this course as our favorite.
Great course. Beautiful scenery.
This is what most public courses are afraid to be. Trouble everywhere but plenty of room to get it around. I loved all the character and style of the layout. It is certainly a course you need to play a couple times to understand how best to play it. Greens were great. Difficult but fair. While it is walkable I don’t think I would do it. There are a few extreme elevation changes. I loved all the little ponds and creeks everywhere. It is just a really fun and challenging course and I can’t wait to go back.
Must Play Course in the Area
Overall a great course in the area
For most a Power Cart recommended significant uphill and downhill grade
Surprisingly for the time of year the course was over watered too soft and ball would plug in the dry of the summer
Offers a good challenge to all levels of golfers
I wouldn't recommend to beginners
A few strategic holes so study the card and drive up to take a look
Fairways are mostly generous
Greens are true and play mid speed
Driving range okay to warm up but no guage of club length drops off a steep hill
Guarantee you'll enjoy your round
Beautiful Course
Great course very well maintained. Beautiful views from almost every hole. Some very challenging holes with water and rough in play. Well maintained greens and fairways. I recommend using a power cart since the course is long and hilly.
Money needed
The course layout can be challenging. There is lots of hazards, not a great amount of bunkers but the water makes up for that.
I'd like to have seen the course in better shape, but that takes money and I'm not sure how busy the course is.
They have a decent driving range and a couple putting greens to warm up at. Club house is nothing special, sparse pro shop.
Overall, I would play it again if there was an event being held there like I was apart of today. The course could be very special is it has some doe behind it because the area and scenery is beautiful.
Every hole is interesting
If you like a course with some topography, Shuksan might suit you well. Lots of interesting ups and downs, elevated tee boxes, elevated greens. Very well-priced, including for Canadians like me - fair rate of exchange for our (now suffering) dollar. Remarkably dry for this time of year. Always potential for a really fun round.
good course that includes a little bit of everything to make it a fun round
