About
North Shore Golf Course in northeastern Tacoma has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1956. It has built its reputation on the quality of the greens and fairways. The classic layout provides enough of a challenge for experienced golfers without being too intimidating for beginners. The layout will test your short-game skills with undulating greens that roll fast and true. Bunkers are also carefully placed around the greens and there are trees lining the narrow fairways. Accuracy is essential for a low score but it will also take some quick and strategic thinking since the setup on each hole presents a different challenge. North Shore is a tough, but fair course for players of all skill levels. There is also an all-grass driving range and practice facility available.

Friendly staff, slow pace...strange layout
Many elevated greens odd holes and back to back par 3s near the end make things super odd at north shore. Staff was very friendly. Greens were soft and fast. I think the designer had one too many while designing the course...lots and lots of goose poop. No real food options...all and not great but not terrible.
Course reputation of fairways is not being met
I like this course, and enjoy the layout. Today however, I was disappointed in the condition of the fairways. While I was walking down the fairway on the finishing hole #18, I was astonished by the poor condition of the final fairway. I played with a group of friends, and we felt that the condition of the course detracted from our enjoyment of the course.
Don't go if you are at risk for Covid
I have golfed numerous time and still have not seen compliance with state Covid requirements. Understand the course is now owned by the Puysllup Indian Nation. But they could easily put plexiglass up for the cashiers, and make the staff wear mask. I have even see young employees wear a mask bit older managers that do not. Puts a lot of pressure on young employees. All they have done is place signs to wear mask and only 2 people in the pro shop at a time, but they do not enforce.
It was a great day for golf at North Shore
A buddy and I decided that we wanted to get out and play this weekend and North Shore had openings that fit our schedule. The pro shop had instituted a 2-golfer limit inside it, but we were able to get in and pay without issue. We teed off on time (7:14am tee time) and other than waiting for the group in front of us on the #2 tee box, and the first par-3 (#4) we were able to play our pace and finished our round right on 4 hours. Never had the group behind us on our heels after that, either. Course was in good shape overall. Finally saw the beverage cart as we were walking down the 18th fairway.

i live right up the street and i will not play another round until they deal with all of the kids and other folks all over the course on the back 9 playing football, riding bikes and other shenanigans going on out there. local apartments are a disaster to the course!
Awesome!
Everything was great and fun. We wanted to eat after but the grill and restaurant closed by 6 pm or so. The food looked really good.
the course was little soggy in places, ended up skipping 5 holes due to slow pace lead group was three holes behind.
Great day for golf. We were treated great and enjoyed the course. I got to play the course my Dad and husband played before we were married. Pretty wet. Not the courses fault just the weather

Course in good shape, greens were fast for winter and well groomed !
New carts, working on improvements this is a GC we will be returning to!
Fun
This course is really growing on me. The staff is very friendly and has the answers to any question.
I'm really starting to love the course it can be hard at times but it can also be forgiving. It is by far my favorite course for the winter.

a really nice layout but the condition is going down hill, but i guess its better than having it bull dozed over for houses.
