Rude Staff and Bad Flow
Would not play here if I were you. This is a long read but worth your time. I dealt with some of the rudest staff of any business I have ever been to when I went out for 9 holes earlier today. I show up and they were out of carts, which is expected on a busy Saturday morning so I was not angry about that. What was frustrating was that there was a group of about 25-30 guys hanging out by the putting green before hole 1 and many of them where not sharing a cart. After about 45 minutes of waiting for a cart they called my name over the speaker and told me mine was ready. The thing is, the group of 25-30 guys I mentioned were just now headed to hole 1 after waiting around and talking to each other. I asked if I could start on the back nine due to the back up at hole one and was told I could not because I would potentially back up the back nine...yeah...read that again see how much sense that makes... My dad, who was driving the cart for me today and not playing, told them that it didn’t make sense that they would allow such a backup and then not let me start on the back nine. The man then proceeded to tell my dad that they did not need our business and that we could leave if we wanted to. We should have left right then and there but we were already 45 minutes deep at this point. We paid and then as we were leaving the man told us that if there was no one on the ninth tee box when I was starting, we could go to 10 (I guess he realized we were right). When I was ready to start, there was no one on the tee box at 9 but there were two women walking up to the green on hole nine, so I went up to them and asked if it was okay if I jumped in front because of the back up on hole 1 and they were more than happy to let me . This is where it gets good. I was about to tee off hole 10 and another man that works for the course, who knew I was starting on hole 10 because he saw me ask the ladies at hole 9, yelled at me from the club house and told me to hurry up and hit.... I looked back at him and signaled that there was someone literally 20 yard in front of me and I was waiting on them to move. What made me the most frustrated out of all of this, and you might have already picked up on it, is that he yelled at me, a single player, to hurry up and hit after he allowed 25-30 guys to sit around and talk to each other for 45 minutes while I was waiting on my cart.... If you want a good course with the nicest staff in the world, go play at The Greens @ Auburn.
Awful staff
The staff here are NOT friendly. They run into one problem and the man running the cash register will chew you out. It’s a cheap course for a reason. If you want a good golfing experience don’t come here.
Gets Crowded
I love playing this course. However, be careful with the pace. Even though they take tee times, they still allow walk ins at any time. So, if you book an 11:00 tee time, you could very well find a group on the tee box right in front of you at 10:59.
Best deal in town
Maybe the best bang for your buck in the Auburn area. The new hot deals on golf now make this course an easy choice for any beginner or moderate golfer looking to play a round. The new changes to the course open it up a lot and definitely give a few strokes back to every struggling round.
Very good
This course is in great shape and has all the challenges you want on a course.
Great greens
For a city course the greens, fairways and rough is excellent. Loved the fast greens
Great Time
The course was not very crowded. Conditions were very well. Offered a good challenge
Good course for the price I paid.
I got a $18+fees time at 11:30 on a Saturday.
It was worth the money.
Greens were in OK condition.
Course was challenging in some places for the short length of 6200.
Greens were tough to hit on some holes due to size.
Overall I would play there again if the deal was right.
Has improved since last round
This course and pro shop must be under new management since I played last two months ago. A starter is managing the groups going off, last time I played they were allowing everyone to go off at will the play was so slow I had to leave after 9 holes. But I have to say it is much better now with the new management. Excellent value for the money $40 is the normal rate and Golf Now hot deal can be as low as $17.
Fine Saturday of Golf
Course has challenging features and interesting layout for some of the 18 holes. Greens look like they are rough but putt nicely and hold the line fairly well. Just long enough to make it difficult and some great par 3's.
You Just Never Know Here
This course, in my opinion, is a course to play if you just need to get your quick golf fix in without the extra money. I have played this course too many times to count and I usually leave slightly disappointed. However, you simply cant beat their weekday prices. This course is never in the same shape. Mostly college kids keeping up the course and mowing grass, so that should let you know what to expect. Inconsistent fariways, complete lack of a rough, very patchy grass (or even dirt) on many fairways, greens usually subpar and ball marks EVERYWHERE!!!!!! This course has a lot of potential, but it just never seems they are willing to invest into the course to make it a great place to play within the city limits. I'm from the area and it's always, always, always had this reputation. I'm NOT saying don't play it, but just know, there's a reason for the low prices....
Nice Course -- Great Value
The course was in good condition. The greens were recently aerated but putting was not bad. The pace of play was slow (I waited at every shot) but the round was less than 4 hours. I was also playing as a single with a cart, but everyone was waiting.
It RAINED!!!!!!!!!
Well it rained, I mean torrential downpour, but we've driven for 45 minutes, and already paid. Gave ourselves lift/clean/place priveledges, pace of play was excellent, not many other fools. Didn't have to use the auto 2 putt ruling, after learning to avoid the rivers running thru the greens. Course has a few spots under construction, but in consideration of all, truly an enjoyable round of golf.
Best Public course in auburn
The Pines is in great shape and plays as well as the country clubs in town. Can play for 13$ during the week all week and staff friendliness is unmatched. Great public course.
Best Bang for your Buck!!
We played with 4 people team and the course was in good condition with only $10 per person.
Although there are times that course is little packed but the pace was fairly decent.
Good green conditions.
Great Afternoon
This is a well maintained compact course. It is fun to play, but not very difficult. It is a great walking course. The conditions are great, except for the bunkers. They are raked, but don't have much sand. The greens are a little slow. We really enjoyed playing here.
Good course for couple
This course is not difficult and good for couple
Very close from my home
Enjoyment
Overall good time. Pace of play got slow on a few holes. But I've seen worse.
pass on this
Course is not in great shape and I have been frustrated with the pace of play prior.
Went back for a good golf now deal, it's not even worth the discounted money. Generally not kept up well and the driving range is like hitting off of parking lot. You can't warm up with a driver or 3-wood, But most "patrons" disregard that Rule in addition to just about all else..
Also, for some reason, they chose to let people go off the back nine on a slow day, which took my ground to a screeching halt and I walked off the course after 10. Puzzling that they would allow that to hurt pace of play, but given the conduct of the players on the course, most of them do not know golf etiquette and they are not marshaled to be respectful of the rules of golf and etiquette around pace of play.
it's the golfers that really hurt the most here. And the course management is unwilling to enforce any rules to help.
easy layout makes for fun round for avg golfer like me
Did not walk but would be easy course to walk..always enjoy when i play there..greens in good shape
