Located in Little River, S.C., Eagle Nest opened in 1971 and was designed by Golf Course Architect Gene Hamm. The layout is laid out across 250 acres of gently rolling land, rare for a course near Myrtle Beach. The course has been upgraded recently and includes a set of "Perch" tee boxes that play over 8,100 yards, making it the state's longest golf course.

Super senior and player-friendly tee boxes up front have also been installed. This traditional low country layout features not only rolling undulations in it but mature Carolina pines, an abundance of wildlife and beautiful natural landscaping.

Fun Layout

Nice layout for a golfer friendly course. It was a cart path only rnd, lots of rain & poor drainage...but pace of play was good for that conditions.
Greens were cut to different speeds so getting pace of putting was difficult for our foursome. They're usually very consistent, but maybe wet conditions predicated cut(s)?

Everything about the coarse was great. From drop off bag to the end. Greens were a bit difficult for me but the guys liked them.

Never been chased off a Golf course before...not even a great course

My friend and I drove down to MB from Raleigh to attend family event. We decided to try and sneak in a round before the event the following day Friday. We left a little later than we had hoped but still figured we would be close to finishing before sunset at 5:07. The guy on the phone was terse, he wasn't rude but he wasn't pleasant. Same when we arrived for our 1:30pm tee time. There was no break on the rate in fact I could have booked online for much less. We were happy when we started off as there was at least a hole and a half open in front of us. However, by the third hole it was clear we had caught up to the group(s) ahead of us. We connected with a single to hopefully slow us down a little without going at a snail's pace. Unfortunately, we had to wait on every shot on the front nine. The back opened up as the group ahead dropped at one point. We were optimistic we would get in 18 as the final two holes looked very interesting. We were in the process of teeing off on the 17th hole at approximately 4:45pm. As we were getting in our carts the horn blew 3 times. I looked at the sky and my companions and said what's that all about? We got to our tee shots and the cart guy started yelling "Bring it in!" Again this was with about 20 minutes of sunlight left. We started rushing to finish 17 a par 5 so we could play 18 a par three. Needless to say we didn't get our best results as neither my friend nor I had ever played this course. My friend quit, I tried to finish, but hit a fantastic shot only to discover the entire green was protected by water . We got to the green and here comes the cart man saying "Bring it in" and quickly drove on. Nothing was mentioned about any requirement to have the carts in by a certain time, by either the cart guy/starter nor shop person; nor was there any discount! Obviously, this left a VERY bad taste in my mouth and there are too many much better golf courses in the MB area to patronize this place ever again!

Excellent Day of Golf

Played on a cold and windy day, but it did not detract from a great day of golf. Didn't score that well, but I can't blame the course for that. I was an enjoyable day with family.

A nice average golf course

Price was very reasonable. The fairways were in good condition. The greens were in good conditions but very slow. Bunkers were unraked with lots of footprints. Clubhouse toilets were being renovated so only portable toilet’s available. Some interesting holes but mostly flat and straight with few hazards so not many risk reward shots. Great choice for an inexpensive practice round.

Fairways were a big shaggy and uncut. Greens were fast but bumpy a bit. Interesting layout. I would replay with better conditions. Friendly staff.

below average experience

The course is nice. Conditions were good. However, pace of play was terrible. I never understand why there are individuals helping with bags, a starter, but no one monitoring pace of play. We were a 4 group. 5 hours round and could not finish last 2 holes due to darness.

A Grand Strand Classic

The course was built in the 70’s and is classic with lots of dog legs and water to challenge you. The course was in fine condition but the greens had been recently punched which is why I gave it a four rating. The 16th and 17th were excellent finishing holes and very challenging. It was packed with over 200 players so the pace of play was slow. Overall I enjoyed my round here and will come back in the future.

Sanded greens.

The course was in decent shape, my only problem was that the greens were sanded.
Everyone was pleasant and helpful, but as always, there's that one employee who acts as if their title as starter makes them king.
I liked the layout of the course, 17 and 18 were the most enjoyable holes.

Fun clean organized course to play

Not a very hard challenging course but great scenery and well run.. from the minute you get to the parking lot they are unloading your clubs, checking you in for your tee time.. starter calls your name, explains the rules of the course and you’re off.. pace of play was excellent and Marshall rides around to see to it…wish there wasn’t as much sand but just bad timing on playing it becuz they recently aerated the greens…we had an early morning tee time so noon or afternoons would be a better time to play… greens still rolled very well and were in great shape… fairways were fine also… good deal for the Buck and the finishing hole is where you should take your group pic… A+ to the staff….
