Green Tree Golf Course: A Hidden Gem in Victorville, California
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Green Tree Golf Course, and I must say it's a true hidden gem. I would easily give it a solid 5-star rating.
The first thing that struck me was the stunning view. The course is beautifully surrounded by a safe and friendly environment, with a neighborhood that's as welcoming as it gets. The locals yield the pass to golfers, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that's hard to beat.
The layout of the course is truly unique. With both hilly and flat open spaces, it provides a comfortable and enjoyable game. It's incredibly easy to track your ball's progress, making for a more relaxed and enjoyable golfing experience.
While the grass is nice, there's room for improvement in the maintenance department, particularly in addressing the dry spots surrounding the main golf courses. However, I see immense potential here, especially with more focus on using recycled water and enhancing the landscaping. Some areas are currently dry with no grass, and I believe incorporating granite compounds could be a better solution than bare dirt.
Despite the minor maintenance issues, my overall experience at Green Tree Golf Course was incredible. I'm already planning to return next month. It's worth noting that the weather can be a bit unpredictable, so I'd recommend double-checking the forecast and dressing in layers, just in case.
Affordability is another plus. The prices are very reasonable, making it a perfect choice for playing with friends and family. The golf carts are fast, new, and modern, adding to the enjoyment of the game.
In summary, Green Tree Golf Course in Victorville, California, is a hidden gem that offers a unique and enjoyable golfing experience. With some minor improvements in maintenance and landscaping, this place has the potential to become even more amazing. I look forward to returning and enjoying this wonderful course once again.
Green Tree
Walked the Blues (6700/72.0/127) in 4H early afternoon, played with Paul. Breezy, partly cloudy and in the 60's. $15 Sr. rate to walk was outstanding.
I see many reviews start with commentary about a poor interaction(s) with course staff. Not my experience here by a long shot. I called 3 courses close by after my morning round to inquire about rates/availability. One could not even reach their pro shop. Another the guy acted like I was asking for some special favor to get him to tell me how much it cost for a single to walk. Here, I got Tony, and he was the reason I chose this course to play in the afternoon.
Tony quickly gave me the rundown on fees/availability. When I arrived, he quickly got me processed and on the first tee. But not before hooking me up on their Sr. rate and when he found out my first time here, grabbed a course yardage book and was giving me tips on numerous holes. Customer service is an attitude, and Tony could have run a customer service clinic. Much appreciated!
Tees mostly good with a few needing divot repair.
Fairways more lush than thin but were spotty.
Rough was mostly winter thin where there was rough, lusher around the greens. It had many hardpan areas that looked like they had quit watering those areas long ago to conserve their water for the more important areas? Should not be that far off the fairway anyway.
Traps were okay. Texture I liked and I sure sampled enough to be able to accurately rate them.
Greens were firm and quick. I had 2-3' coming back seemingly on everything AD. The were smooth and rolled well. Needed to factor in some runout on iron shots.
Busy restaurant onsite. Okay layout in very playable condition, plus it's right off the 15 freeway. The course was in better playing condition overall than Hesperia which I played in the morning. However, the layout was more vanilla with less fun holes overall IMO. Would occasionally play if local, but liked Hesperia better overall. Recommended.
Pro shop dude, I think his name was Lowell was not friendly at all
Guy was a piece of work. Nowhere on their website did it state that there was a rider fee. I was charged $10 as it was posted on a piece of paper in pro shop. Lowell was rather rude about it. It was my birthday so my daughter was off work and went with me. I had to go to my car and get my wallet. I didn’t mind paying it was just the way Lowell told me.
Golden Gem of the Desert
Its a desert! Yet this fine oasis of sweet greens and well groomed fairways and boundaries provide some of the best rewards for both good golf played well, and skill improvement for the errant shot. The layout provides both amateur and expert a chance to reach into their bag and find that great shot they go home thinking about. The hidden value many golfers have been overlooking is that virtually anytime during the week you can grab your clubs, pay a smaller fee, and play this fine course without the hold ups and hiccups you find at the other local courses. Truth is after having played all the other courses on a regular basis, Greentree is that golden nugget in the rough.
Best in the High Desert
The management has really done well to keep all greens and fairways in great condition all winter! Everyone on staff deserves a big thank you for their service to the course and to the customer.
Beautiful day for golf
The golf course was in pretty decent shape for this time of the year. Greens were pretty fast but were holding. Can’t beat the price either.
I’ll be back with more friends.
Trash
Frost delay for no reason then backed up 6 carts to start ridiculous
Green tree
Except for the fact the course has no water holes. It is challenging. Great staff all around, golf and restaurant.
Played 9 with nephew
Green Tree is a great place to play - great price on GolfNow. Course in great shap
Love the course.
I play the course a couple times a week, the greens are fast and in great shape. No water hazards on the course, which would help make the course a little tougher. But i love the course.
not bad for the price
really no complaints about this course besides the group of six that was playing together. greens were extremely fast, tee boxes were in good shape, fairways were okay, and bunkers were soft. first time playing the course and the staff was very helpful.
Love this course
This course is a great value for the money. Fairways and greens are nice.
Course and Staff ...
Course is the best I’ve seen it in years and staff is spot on. Big kudos for its Manager.
Golfers of all walks of life
When it comes to golfing on the fly or planned visits, Greentree has never been anything but receptive and kind. The staff show a geniune interest in their guests, learning their names and remembering playing preferences. The course itself is in fantastic condition! Again the staff and management have provided a great course from tee to green. Golfers can expect a fine reward for the good shot with clean faiways and upkept second cut that allows them to use what they know to score well. Of course trouble is trouble, and an errant shot in the trees makes for good training for scrambling and recovery. I love the greens here above all else; the action from your ball is what any golfer would want and even when fast they allow a good shot to stick and putts that stay smooth and true. This truly is a great place to show up, take out your sticks and have some relaxing fun. The lush green course will definitely let you score well...if you bring your A game!
It was a great day for golfing . It would have been better if those lazy golfers in front of me would repair their divot marks .Lot of them were in my way of putting causing me to miss some birdies and pars
What could be
I have played this course many times over the years and the same downside persist. To wet and to many trespassers on the course. For years staff said the course was to wet because of an antique irrigation and drainage system. They supposedly fixed that years ago, but in many ways it is still to wet, mostly in landing area which cost distance. Overall I like the course layout just not where it is laude out. To many of the local transients and residents walk all over the course in dangerous and or distracting spots. It’s a muni with its hassles but over all it’s a challenge so I continue to play it.
