Tricky Course
First time playing this course since it re-opened. Totally forgot this is a shot makers course with all the dog legs off the tee box. Our GPS system really didn't show the water hazards clearly. Some we thought was grass and after hitting off the tee, ball was in the lake.. Other than that its on its way back and we will play again.
Good course and value
Coursr in great shape, greens good and faster than most and good pace of play. Course was full and busy but moving at a reasonable place. I look forward to playing again.
course in good shape
We went off at 7:30 and finished just as heat started...played the Lakes course and Creek course opens in 2 wks...and if you are a Carrollton resident you get a little discount!
Fairways bumpier than Chicago expressways
Overall had a very enjoyable round. Although hot, was able to beat the heat under the trees. Fairways were pretty rutted up from recent rain, and then drying out leaving it bumpier than usual.
Great Value in Dallas
Some reviews about the course mentioned conditioning of course being questionable.
There was a lot of standing water off the fairways and fairways were not that smooth but I had a great golf experience. The greens were good. The staff was nice. Despite some blind tee shots the course is score able and unless your looking for club like conditions you should enjoy it. Worth the $ 35!
Best Goat Pasture in Carrollton!!!
The Lakes offers the best goat pasture in Carrollton and possibly in the Metroplex. The fairways are extraordinarily high and offer ample grazing. The grass has gone to seed providing your goats extra protein. There are sufficient pools of water on the fairways so your animals well hydrated and never stressed.
Loved this course and the people and am a resident of Carrollton. I understand they’ve had severe water issues but last Sunday was ridiculous. Played 9 holes and quit in disgust with the conditions.
Not a great start
My tee time was set for 9:27 and I teed off at 10:20 from the tenth hole. It was a terrible start, very unorganized. Pace of play was slow for my first 9 as well. Wasn't done until 3:15. Also, the course was super wet throughout, including fairways. I understand they can't control weather, but it was not good.
Open again - but has a long way to go...
The Lakes course has reopened after extensive damage from the 2015 flood. Bottom line it's going to take some time for the course to come back. There are lots of areas being resodded. (GOR). The tee boxes and fairways are pretty bumpy. The greens are actually fairly decent - roll true with decent speed.
The didn't have a beverage cart out - despite it being a crowded Friday afternoon with perfect weather.
It'll likely be awhile before this course returns to the quality it had before. The low cost is the main attraction....though be prepared for long rounds on a crowded day.
Indian Creek
Liked the overall layout. Good challenges, makes the average golfer think about shot making instead of just always grabbing the driver. Conditions were average, pretty weedy. Some areas bone dry, others swamped. Greens were good, decent moisture, held shots. Pace was great until making the turn. Seems a ton of folks jumped in for a quick 9, so the back was excruciatingly slow. No cart service on a packed Friday sucked. Decent course if you get a hot deal.
Indian Creek has fallen down
I'm really disappointed that after all those months of being closed due to flooding that the course is still not in good shape. There were numerous areas where it was just dirt around the green. In addition there is still a lot of new fresh sod around much of the area that has yet to be fully installed. Sure it's a free drop but it's a hassle. They also didn't have any markers for where the carts should exit . Our playing group had a good general idea from playing different courses but that doesn't mean that they should leave it up to chance for more inexperienced golfers. Finally the last thing that confused me was the lack of a GPS on the new carts. There used to be GPS but they were not in place when we played today. Indian Creek used to be one of my favorite courses and it's going to be a while before I consider playing again
Good Value/Good location
I live in Mckinney and don't have a everyday course. I usually like to travel and find different places to play. This place is perfect location off 35N in Carrollton. Even though it is close to the expressway you couldn't tell as it was rather quiet on the course. Our round was quite long for a sunday afternoon 2:30pm tee time going on 5 1/2 hrs, so a marshall riding around to speed up play would've been nice, that being said the course is very appealing to the eye and surrounded by trees and water so made the wait peaceful. Also the cart girls are definitly the best looking in the area and friendly, came around enough but could've been more often considering wait times. All in all I'll def be back and enjoyed this course
Whoop-de-doos! Swamp
I have played this course several times and what I tend to forget is how bad the fairways are in terms of leveling. I dont know if the ground settled or what but every fairway is nothing but tiny "whoop-de-doos" or "moguls" that just beat you up if you drive a cart on them. Its hard to explain but it reminded me why I stopped playing out there. I love the layout and the staff is great but maybe I should just walk it next time? I really wish they would do something about those fairways. Also, it hasn't rained in 5 days yet right off nearly every fairway was mud and standing water. The bunkers are full of gravel and not sand. That was odd to me. Also, the round took over 5 hours and we had a morning tee time. We had to wait several minutes on every shot. Hard to get going that way.
Worth the money
I found a golf now for $39. Generally it's $59 so white the savings. Course is in very good shape. Some of the greens have a few iffy spots but not bad at all. Most of them are in great shape, hold well, and roll true. I'll be back!
Avoid at all costs
Zero marshals present all day long. Had a 11:15a tee time and wasn't able to finish until 5:30p. Spent the entire day waiting on the group in front of us. The course displayed zero interest in fighting slow play. Constantly sent messages to the club house for an attendant which were never answered. I'd advise anyone to not play here unless its free. You cant get into a kind of playing rhythm here and its clear they don't care.
Great Value. Excellent layout. Average Greens.
Played as a twosome. Got stuck behind a tournament so the pace was super slow. Greens were slower than average. Great beachy bunkers. Super soft sand. Fairways were in decent shape. Excellent cart gals. Came by often.
Challenging but Fun!
Course is in good shape for early in the year. A few greens had some weeds trying to come up, but for the most part were fast and smooth. Tee boxes in good shape. Will definitely come back. The course won the first round!
Creeks with Dad
Always a fan of this course, the pace is always decent and the course conditions on the Creeks side always exceeds my expectations. Greens were a little slow but I bet that had to do with the weather we've been getting, they'll firm up in no time.
