Not as great as the members think it is
Members are pretentious and rude. Racing up from behind and hitting at our feet. It was our first time playing here & had a forecaddie who helped. Our pace was keeping up with the group ahead. Somehow the clubhouse was alerted and we were asked to wait for them to play through. And then waited for them till they played through the next group. Our caddie was great at setting us up & finding our balls. This course also has a lot of sand. Many bunkers blind and in the middle of the fairways. Not worth all the publicity and certainly not worth the cost. I just don’t understand rudeness and treating others like less valuable people because it’s “your” course… the course is nice, but unfortunately I advise others to go elsewhere. Like the actual courses this place tries to replicate.
great opportunity to play this awesome private course
Great tract, fair for all handicaps, fun tribute holes. We were able to experience this course through our golf group otherwise I believe it’s completely private. Unavoidable we were there during a remodel, so the pro shop was in a trailer and had limited choices. The bathrooms were in a mobile trailer which would’ve been great had they had water attached to them. The staff was super friendly and we were grateful to be able to play and look forward to returning
Played before it went private. Worth a trip if you can get on.
This is a very nice course in superb condition. From what I understand this was one of the first course in America to "copy" great holes from famous courses -- Amen corner at Augusta National, Winged Foot, etc. Since then Tour 18 in Dallas and The Architects Club in New Jersey followed the template.
While I will likely never get a chance to play some of these holes in their original layouts, playing here allowed me to imagine. Worth the trip if you can get on.
Golden Course
Great course in the Ocala area. There are several signature holes that replicate 12, 13, 16 from Augusta. 1 & 17 from St Andrews. Royal Troon and Baltusrol. I can appreciate the landscaping evolve as the holes change to mimic the original holes. Flow of the round was at points challenging due to the ever changing design of the course. Overall, well done. I would recommend the course to others.
Nothing Out of Place
I am fortunate to be a Member here since they have gone Private. The owners have spared virtually no expense to insure a quality experience. The Pro Shop staff is the best I have ever encountered(thanks Mike & Nick), and the Grill room staff super friendly. The best replica holes in the Country in my opinion. Conditions super including fast(but not stupid fast) greens with character(Thanks Jack).
The replica holes are great but the other holes have character also i.e., the 1st requires a slight draw to avoid waste area on the right, and then a high soft shot to hold an extremely well protected green. Great finishing hole on 18 where the long hitters have a great risk/reward opportunity and plenty of others in between.
Difficult to get on without a Member but there are plenty of options off season to play in charity events of Regional Tournaments. You can also volunteer for the LPGA Event in early February and last year they gave a round to the volunteers. They also have a limited number of "Stay and Plays" available both in and out of Season.
A first class operation....
A fun afternoon
Had played here about 12 years ago but it was much, much better than I remembered.
For starters, the course was in great shape and the greens were pure. There are eight holes that are recreated from some of the most famous places in golf - including the 12th at Augusta National, the Road Hole at St. Andrews, etc.
Now, the recreated holes are neat and standing on the tee box of each you can tell exactly which hole it mimics, but it does make for an interesting, uneven flow to the routing. That's not a big deal with me, but it may be for others who are more particular.
I liked it. Would play there again any day.
