Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course
About
Primm Valley Golf Club boasts two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio. On the Desert Course, Fazio fully utilized the rugged landscape and scenic views offered by the mountains in the distance. Like many of his designs, the Desert Course blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. It is a straightforward layout with no hidden tricks but there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the undulating greens to provide some challenges. The golf course also requires a few tricky forced carries. The fairways are generous and offer some room for error, making the course more appealing to beginners. In addition to the two golf courses, Primm Valley also offers extensive practice facilities that include a double-ended driving range, target greens, practice putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with sand bunkers.

WORST COURSE CONDITIONS EVER
I NEVER LEAVE REIEWS, BUT HAD TO FOR THIS COURSE. I HAVE PLAYED MUNI COURSES FOR $20.00 THAT WERE IN BETTER SHAPE THAN THIS COURSE. YOU COULD NOT CALL THE GREENS GREENS AS THERE WAS NOOOOOOO GRASS ON THEM. EVERY GREEN WAS DIRT WITH SMALL PATCHES OF GRASS/WEEDS. THEY COULD OF AT LEAST GIVEN US A HEADS UP THAT THEY HAD ISSUE WITH THE GREENS. WILL PROBABLY NEVER PLAY THIS COURSE AGAIN.
A total Disaster
greens had 1/2 sand and were otherwise barrenn. Teeoff should warn you ahead of time if the course is unplayable.
Not to happy with them...the course apologized but TO should let you know.
terrible and disappointed
The course looked like it had been bombed. ALL the greens had 1/2 of sand on them. I was really disappointed that Tee-off did not warn me of the course conditions ahead of time.
Unplayable
Course should never have been open to play. Every green was diseased, maybe 10% grass on greens. When booking on Golf Now there was no mention at all of the course condition. There should be a refund or rain check.
Not Worthy of Play
Desert course at Primm should not be open to the public and at a minimum there should be notification on Golf Now of the condition of the course. ( there was none) Very inappropriate to pay for a round of golf there and be subjected to a course that has no greens currently due to fungus. We should get a refund.
Lost all the Greens
Don’t bother playing, they lost all their greens, we should have received a refund
Primm /Close the course
Took some friends there as we have played
before and loved the course.
It is an absolute embarrassement.
Not only are fairways brown but they have no
greens.
Can't believe they charge for that course.
Friends rented clubs, they told us ladies clubs were stolen so put together some miss mash set and
charged full price for the rental.
Total disgusted.
CLOSE THE COURSE!!!!
Once a nice course, not not so much
It was obvious that this was once a nice course. Not any longer. The greens were mostly sand with patches of grass. Bunkers not maintained at all. Fairways ok, but not great. Choose another course.
Sad to see this course in poor condition
We enjoyed the course to ourselves, but it was in poor condition which surprised us. We have played Primm many times and it has always been in good condition. The price did not equal the condition we got.
Wait till mid April befor considering this course
Both the Lake and Desert courses are in extremely poor condition as the Bermuda grass is just starting to grow greens were really just sand these are too good layouts that just shouldn’t be played for a while really felt burned and should have been warned of course conditions before we booked it
Nice Track, Horrible Greens
A green gem in the middle of the desert turned into a bust when we arrived to find out the greens had just been aerated and sanded. Overall the course was dry but the patchwork greens of holes, sand, and areas of turf really took the shine off the experience. I would not go there again without first checking on the status of the greens.
Course in very bad shape
Every green was covered in sand and in the process of reseeding. The fairways were extremely brown and thin. Most of the fairways on the desire course are sloped, so players must take this additional challenge into consideration. Definitely, not worth the drive down there for the green fees charged. Much better courses that are well maintained closer in.
Primm Valley Desert Course
It's been a few years since I've played Primm Valley. The grass on the fairways wasn't as full as I recall but overall, the course played well. While the greens had been seeded, they were still in good shape.
In sad shape, but still enjoyable
The staff is terrific, and the course is challenging. Sadly, the greens are a disaster, with just little clumps of grass here and there, on a sandy bed. Probably the worst greens I've ever seen; almost impossible to putt on. The T-boxes are okay, and the fairways have a little grass here and there on the Lakes Course. The Desert Course is probably unplayable. The staff is aware of it, and I think they're struggling to bring the course back, but it appears the owners won't put up enough cash to restore the greens and replenish the fairways properly. I'd rather spend more money and play on grass.
Wait until about June to book a tee time.
Never played on a worse condition course!
Was booked for Desert and upon arrival was told they had major water problems so they changed us to the Lakes course.
The greens were in such bad conditions we had to play every one as a two putt green. They were either heavily sanded or with big squares of placed cut green patches with obvious cut lines.
Fairways weren't terrible but blotchy enough the we had to play improved lies.
Upon leaving we asked the cart guy what the heck happened, because we've played these courses many times and loved them. He said they lost their course superintendent a few months back and the new one just started a couple of weeks ago.
Bottom line is if this superintendent stays it will take a few months to repair everything to a playable state.
Wait 2 to 3 months from now to play. AWFUL NOW!
Played both courses quite a few times thru the years. Almost always in good to great shape.
Now Desert had some sort of water damage so was changed to Lakes course.
ALMOST UNPLAYABLE!
All greens were in various stages of repair and sanded or with squares of grass here and there. Had to play all as 2 putt greens!
Fairways we're very spotted and rough.
Upon leaving the cart guy told us they have been without a Greens super and short on greens keepers. That they just hired a new Sup't about two weeks before.
Save your money and don't attempt play for at least 2-3 months... assuming the new guy stays and they give him what he/she needs to get the courses in shape!
Wait a few months before playing!
Checked in today and was told the Desert course had sever water and drainage problems so they sent us put to the Lake course.
We've played there many times before and always thought it was great.
Fairways were really rough and almost all the greens had damage and were sanded.
After the round we were told they haven't had a greens manager for months and just hired a new one that was met with a disaster to fix.
awesome layout but greens need TLC
1) layout is awesome. some. great looking holes
2) pace of play was fast. we played in 3 hours but that’s because no one was on the course . we teed off at 11 am and done by 2 pm. right in the middle of the day , so fast
3) the greens need TLC. all the greens were 1/10 for conditioning. once they fix the greens I will play it again. but if they don’t fix this greens I think there are better places to play.
