An old friend
We play here at least a couple times each spring. The course is always as good as possible and the staff are top notch folks all across the board. The clubhouse is a huge plus.
Rough greens slow play
We were backed up 4 groups on tee box 1. Would not let anybody off the back even though it was open and nobody on 18. Greens are in bad shape and very slow. Will not go back.
Decent track but slow play
Good track in beautiful natural setting but 5 hour cuz no Marshall and very sliw greens
Course Dropped the Ball
My wife and I (both Seniors in our 80’s) were advised on arrival that due to wet conditions play was cart path only.
Needless to say for us this was a problem …… the amount of sloshing thru wet fairways/roughs is way to much to expect.
IMO the Course dropped the ball by not offering us rain checks to play another day when the course was dry.
The wet conditions also resulted in very slow play all thru the course.
This experience sure was not good Value for the $118 we paid!
The layout of the course is good. The course was in good shape for the time of year. The greens were very slow. I would definitely recommend playing this course.
Good Price
Employees were average at best. Tried to get a cash advance to tip the bag drop Guys. Said I had to buy something wasn't interested in a 8 dollar pair of socks. So gave them 3 bucks. One Guy was descent other Guy not so much was upset our starting ticket said 1 but I didn't print it. Oh well course was OK for winter conditions but was very busy. Always have fun playing so enjoyed myself with my Sons but wouldn't necessarily rush back. The price is reasonable and is probably the reason why it was so busy a little wet and cart paths are rough.
Poor Management
We were very disappointed with our round at Crown Park. It started in the clubhouse, where all of their merchandise was stacked to one side of the room, as if the course was closed entirely, followed by a 15-minute wait for our starter's ticket because the computer went into an automatic update in the middle of our transaction. Unfortunately, this experience carried onto the course.
The course itself didn't seem to drain well. Despite little rain over the prior few days, there were a lot of damp fairways, and we were forced to play cart path only. On some holes, balls were borderline-unplayable merely yards off the fairway due to extremely wet conditions and standing water. The biggest issue, however, came with the on-course staff.
In spite of the wet conditions, we were greeted by active sprinklers in the 16th fairway. The groundskeeper appeared to have his dog with him, because it was chasing the sprinklers, which were spraying us down while actively trying to play our shots. On the following hole, as I readied to hit my approach from the fairway, what appeared to be a course ranger came flying up the fairway in his cart with no regard for the fact that we were playing the hole. As he sped past us, my friend yelled "Hey, he's trying to hit!", and we were completely ignored.
I have played close to 20 rounds in the Myrtle Beach area, and NEVER had an experience like this. I certainly wasn't expecting the experience of some of the premier courses in the area, but Crown Park did provide a good value for the cost, in my opinion,
Our first time, mixed impressions.
We loved the course layout. Fun, interesting and challenging. We were surprised as the fairways were dry and lacking fairway grass with all the lakes throughout the GC. Greens very slow. We would like to come back later this season to hopefully have a better golf experience with grass everywhere.
Sunset
Crown Park has come a long way the last 2 years with course conditions. OUTSTANDING!
Good course!
I'm surprising to discover this course.
Very good green, true good feel and speed!
Course with no houses, perfect for beginner!...but narrow on certain holes!
Very good layout with carefull shot to do !
Carolina pines all the way!
I enjoyed it!
Wet Course
Unusually wet due to rain night before. Cart path only which was a lot of walking. Seems no courses in MB can tolerate all the rain lately.
