Indian Canyons Golf Resort - South Course

About
Nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains, Indian Canyons Golf Resort offers two championship courses with stunning views. The two golf courses, North and South, have completely different layouts but they are both sheltered from the wind thanks to the surrounding mountains. The South Course is the shorter of the two, making it the more player-friendly course. That is not to say it is not a challenge though. The rolling fairways are framed by contoured mounding and four expansive lakes come into play on six holes. The par 5s are particularly memorable. There are also well over 1,300 palm trees throughout the golf course, which includes hundreds of Washingtonia filifera palms. These trees are native to the Agua Caliente Tribe and an important part of their history.

17th green, short par 4, layup short of the water before hitting over to a guarded green. Just an iron and a wedge, but what a beauty! Photo submitted by t781893493 on 05/01/2019

Terrific Golf Course
Where do I start with this course...How about with the course conditions. The course is in excellent shape, the greens run true, the tee boxes are well maintained, the sand traps are good, and the fairways are solid. Overall, this course gets an A for conditions.
Second, the staff is incredibly friendly. The pro-shop, starter, marshals, cart girls, and food/beverage folks are all very nice and accommodating. The marshals in particular are terrific (more on this later).
Third, pace of play. This course targets a four hour round and they are serious about it. We played two rounds on Friday, one at 8AM and one at 2PM. Both rounds clocked in at under four hours. The marshals will tell you to hurry up if you are falling behind pace, but they are so nice and apologetic about it, you can't even be mad. Besides, I LOVE a four-hour round so I really appreciate them keeping things moving.
I'd like to thank the staff of this course for providing such a treat of a time. I highly encourage people to check this course out.
The only odd thing about this course is that there are only two par 3s and two par 5s across the course. That means there are 14 par 4s. A bit strange, but it was still cool.
Nice Resort Course To Pad The Ego!
Played early morning on a Tuesday. Threesome went around in 3.5 hours. Excellent conditions and the staff were exceptional. Friendliest starters and course marshals anywhere. Tees and greens are worthy of the Tour. Traps soft and raked. Wide open with a little water on a few holes, and typically forgiving for a resort course. I'll be back next spring and will be booking another round.
Amazing condition & Incredible views
I play this course every time I’m in Palm Springs, but today was incredible. It’s currently the best condition of any course I’ve played in a long time. The staff has done an incredible job with the tee boxes, fairways and greens. Combine that with the mountainous backdrop and this is an elite course. The greens fees are a bargain for the experience.
Hats off to the folks at Indian Canyon. Thanks for the awesome day.
Perfect Palm Springs Course in the HEAT
From the moment we arrived we were treated like Kings!
Wide selection of merchandise, the staff knew their stuff as far as quality.
They Loaded us up, got us out there. The mountains and strategically placed trees kept us cool. The greens ran True AF. Fairways were plush! Hit a good drive get rewarded. Rough was real. PGA tough but fun.
This course was worth every dollar. Thank you to Lety, and the cart attendant . Can’t remember his name but he deserves recognition.
We had an amazing experience.
Great golf course
This course was awesome. The course was in great shape and the pace of play on point. I am definitely coming back.
Great course! Great hit deal rate!
I’ve played Indian canyons north and south courses many times and they never fail to disappoint. I played the south course on a hot Sunday afternoon. Upon arrival the entire staff from the pro shop to starters, everyone super friendly and very welcoming. the course was a little busy but a few slow groups allowed me to play ahead. Some tee boxes were in need of work, most fairways nice for being summer and the greens were rolling nice. A must play course.
Nice challenging course
First time playing here, definitely going back. Nice challenging course with some long par 3 holes. Greens were is good shape for summertime play. Worth the price. Clubhouse food and ambiance was well worth the stay along with friendly staff.
One of the Best Courses in the Palm Springs Metro Area
The only reason this course did not get 5 stars is that the greens were not in the shape I would expect for the price. They were slow and splotchy. Otherwise the course was in pristine shape and the layout is awesome.
Fun course with open fairways and smooth greens
We played mid morning on a hot day but the course was in such great shape and so playable that we zipped along. Particularly enjoyable course for women .Not too punishing but still rewarded good shots. Would definitely play again. Also had a delicious lunch at the clubhouse after the round.
Great Place to play
Had a wonderful time at this course, friendly staff, fantastic restaurant, the food was amazing and a good variety to choose from. I will be coming back here soon.

But Don't You Go
Talked my wife into playing there on our anniversary.
Greeted nicely by a guy out front. Walked into clubhouse same warm greeting. Walked into restaurant several employees greeted me with smiles and good morning. Marshalls gave us cold waters and checked on us frequently. Told us group in front of us would let us play through after next hole.
Course great. Staff even better.
One oddly placed par three??
Nice round at Indian Canyons
Played Indian Canyons South as a part of a group weekend outing. The course was in good condition, especially for June. The layout was mostly flat with some good three pars. There is room to miss off the tee as fairways tend to parallel each other. Also, there is just enough water to keep it interesting. The course is right up against the mountains, so the scenery is impressive.
The staff, clubhouse and restaurant are all very nice. The starter gave us plenty of information (especially where the rattlesnakes tend to hang out)!
This place is worth a try if you are in the Palm Springs area.
