Meh
We hoped the hour long drive, which is pretty, would get us a better course for the money. Nope. It's okay, but for $170 plus you should expect actual sand traps. The fairways are nice and green, over-seeded I'd guess, but the greens were pretty rough. Not nearly worth the price or extra hour there and back in my opinion.
Nice retiree course 50 min drive from Vegas
Pahrump has no water restrictions, so this course has lush green grass everywhere, ponds, waterfalls, rough, etc. There was a grass range which is a rarity December in Vegas considering the grass has been dormant for several weeks.
Good variety of holes that will challenge golfers with small hills, plenty of strategically placed bunkers, water hazards, doglegs, small landing areas, heavy slopes on greens. Greens speed was a 7-8. Lots of trees on the course which was awesome for the desert. Bunkers did not have enough sand in them. Greens were smooth with a good amount of grain, there were spots that were under repair. Tee boxes were cut short. Fairways had nice short grass, rough was about an inch thick and very pleasant to hit off of.
Employees met us in the parking lot to give us a cart which was incredible service. Good bar/restaurant for after the round (that bartender needs a raise - she's managing an entire bar by herself as well as 5+ tables).
Free range balls with the round. 10 minute tee time intervals - we finished in 4 hours and rarely waited. GPS had distance from the tee (green slopes would have been nice). No drink cart, no water bottles provided, no water stations on the course, had to go into the bar/restaurant to get drinks at the turn. No ball washers, although wet towels were provided.
Excellent, just a bit of a hike from Vegas, Pahrump is slightly cooler than Vegas. Super quiet on the course with awesome mountain views.
Nice course, great staff
The course has a great layout, in good shape except the bunkers were so hard on many holes, unplayable really. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Had a great time, met some new friends. The play was slow, but could have been just the busy morning.
Fairways full of pot holes
I realize this time of year the golf courses have received a lot of wear and tear from the heat, especially this year, but the number of bear spots and potholes all over the fairways was unacceptable. The whole course was green and all other areas. Many courses are browned out, and this course was not so it must’ve been well watered because many of the drives down the middle of the fairway were plugged, but the number of spots with no grass in the fairways.
Super nice staff, but the pace of play was horrible considering it wasn’t very crowded
I would recommend this course, but it just needs to be in better condition and the marshals need to push the people to play a little faster
Great course
Nice drive out from Vegas. Course was in great shape and very interesting to play.
Worth the drive
Seriously! If you live in Vegas, or are just visiting, and if you enjoy golf, do yourself a favour and drive the hour to Pahrump. Play this course. You won't regret it.
Played it 2 years ago and loved it so it was definitely on our "must play" list for this trip.
To be fair, the condition wasn't as good as we remembered it but then every course in the Vegas area has suffered during the summer.
This course has been presented in better condition than any of the others we've played on this trip.
If we come back to Vegas i expect that this course will again be on our "must play" list.
Well worth the Drive
I've played this course about 50 times over the past 2 years..Yes it's a bit of a drive..BUT a very easy relaxing drive from Vegas..This course is always in perfect shape...greens roll true and are challenging...course layout has a nice mix of dessert & water...can't beat the pace of play..usually takes 3 hrs to 3 1/2...pricing is very fair(50-70$)depending on time of the year. The restaurant has excellent food and the prices are rather cheap..Honestly I'd give this place a 6 star rating if I could..Vegas should learn a thing or 2 for how they run their operations...This staff actually gives a crap.
Excellent Course well worth playing
This is an excellent course and great value for the money for what we paid. Some really interesting holes. Greens were difficult to read but true.
Grill restaurant was excellent value for money and well worth staying to eat.
One of my favorite courses around Vegas, specially the last nine holes. I always try to go there if I am around. It is worse the 50 miles drive from town. Our round was only 3,5 hours. Not many people on the course. Very relaxing round. Fairways and greens in good condition. Bunkers ok but the sand is not really good - more fine gravel than sand. Nice restaurant with friendly stuff and good terrace to enjoy food and drinks after the round.
Go play
This is a great course if you want to get out of the Vegas strip for the afternoon You're going to have to rent a car it's a little bit of a ride but it's a very easy enjoyable ride course is well worth the money although I know that it's more expensive than some of the strip courses but the place is in great shape and it's a very fun layout
Hidden gem
Very well maintained course. Super friendly staffs. Beautiful scene. Definitely worth the 45 mins drive.
Great venue
This course a beautiful gem. Great course layout and excellent playing condition. We were greeted with a smile and quickly on our way to the range with provided golf balls. We were on time for our tee time, and played in about 5 hours. But this was due to a high school girls local tournament in front of us. I would estimate that our round would have been played in about 4h20 at worst on a normal day. Great value for the price and a challenging course with different views of the surrounding mountains and desert. It is about 1 hour drive away from the strip, but certainly worth the drive. I enjoyed it and will play it again when I get back in this area.
Test of Patience
What a disaster! Unfortunately I played on a day they had an outside tournament. Not a problem, I made an afternoon tee time. Golf course let the tournament add 15 more entrants which fouled up the afternoon tee times for players. The staff seemed to not know what to do when their tee times were fouled up. When I arrived I was told to ask the Marshall when I was to start—no organization at all. I paired up with different people throughout my round. There was a 10-15 minute wait on each hole. I was told this was not the usual pace of play for Mountain Falls. Locals said it was usually fast moving, but based on my experience I find it hard to believe. Surprised the Marshall was not able to get things moving. I’m also surprised the staff was not able to give people a tee time based on what they had posted on the books. I’d be hard pressed to play this course again even though it was not one of their regular days and it is a nice course. The disappointing thing was the way the staff handled the situation—they were friendly but had no idea what to do.
Used to be better but has it's improvements elsewhere
Pros
Park like setting in Southern Nevada is rare.
Not Desertized
Decent if not excellent shape year round.
Front nine totally different than back nine.
Great practice facility
Great Value
Current Management seems to have reduced the
Operating losses. I'm sure reducing theft and freebies had a bit to do with that.
Cons
Allow fivesomes
Largest practice facility in Southern Nevada and they put mats in at the driving range. ?????
Previous Greenskeeper had a better handle of the course.
Got new carts with GPS and did not put "No carts" signs where the carts stop working.
Hidden Gem
Make the drive over from LV. You won’t be disappointed
