del Lago Golf Club

About
del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

Second Visit to Del Lago: Still Too Slow
This is my second time playing at Del Lago, and while the layout of the course has potential, the overall experience continues to fall short. The fairways had several brown patches and bare spots, which made for inconsistent lies. The greens were extremely slow—slower than what you'd expect even for a casual round.
But the biggest issue, both times I've played here, is the pace of play. I found myself waiting on almost every shot because the groups ahead were so backed up. It really disrupted the flow of the game and made for a frustrating experience.
Unless they find a way to speed up play and improve course conditions, I’m not in a hurry to come back for a third round.
GREENS A TAD SLOW
Greens were a tad slow but with the hot and dry weather that we have had I wouldn't want them to burn, greens were in good condition.
Great course - conditions are marginal
I love playing this course, it’s close to where I live, and the layout is excellent, staff is also friendly and rates are reasonable. But the conditions aren’t very good right now. The greens are slow and there’s lots of bear lies
Needs more shade areas
Sand bunkers were really bad no sand no shade anywhere had to hit right down middle no landing just rock sand but really challenging because you don't know the ins and outs
Course conditions are rough
I am local to the area and have played many rounds at Del Lago, and the conditions right now are way below where they have been in the past. The greens are a little bumpy on most holes and the green speeds are considerably slower than when they are at their best. The biggest problem though is the many bare spots in the fairways. I saw some good reviews from earlier in the month, so wanted to set the record straight. I’ll be holding off playing here for a while to see if things improve.
Excellent experience
Unquestionably my favorite course in Tucson. Maintenance is fabulous greens run true and will hold a good shot when you hit. Like any course into some there are some bare spots on the fairways, but there’s always green grass there to hit. I personally love the way this course is designed because it is built in a housing development, but they left vegetation border between the course and the homes on either side of any hole. It makes it beautiful and safe. Plus you get to see a lot of wildlife. Highly advise play this course.
Great desert course
Staff once again were friendly and efficient. Course in great shape. Lots of variety of holes. Good for any level. Enjoyed the round.
Del Lago is a fine GC but the sand traps are NOT MAINTAINED
Greens very good as well as fairways. It seems to me only Starr Pass and Sewailo has any pride in their sand traps Rocks not enough sand wow ZERO MAINTENANCE!
Pace of Play too Slow
We had a men’s club tournament in front of us and our round took 4 hours, 50 minutes. Ranger should have kept pace of play faster. We waited on every tee box and on most fairway shots. Pace of play way too slow!
Great Track - Conditions Hmmmm
One of my favorite courses for lay out. Greens in good shape but hard. Bunkers typical for a course in lower price range of hard, gravelly and grassy. Hence over priced based on bunkers and firmness of greens
Course needs water
Fairways and greens not in very good shape. Hitting off fairway is like hitting off dirt. Beer and water prices are too high.
The tee boxes are in rough shape. Many holes do not have markers from 200 in. Traps are just dirt with weeds.
Lousy shape
Course basically in ok shape. The tee box and greens were ok. The fairways could be in alot better shape. The cart paths in poor condition. The couse has gone done hill the past couple years.
