The West Lothian Golf Club

About
Founded in 1892, West Lothian Golf Club was first designed by Willie Park Jr. for nine holes, and, then, was totally redone by Fraser Middleton in 1975 to cover 148 acres and reopened in 1979.
A round of golf on the West Lothian Golf Club's Airngath golf course kicks off on Grange, a par 4 that measures 395 yards from the white tees and requires a good tee shot from the monument. Big hitters can unpack their long games on Roundel, the 507-yard, par-5 12th hole, where they'll have to knock their tee shots up the middle if they want to have a chance. Head home on Hame, the 152-yard, par-3 18th hole, which club management calls "the most scenic finishing hole in Scottish golf."
West Lothian Golf Club also offers quality food and drinks at affordable prices - find out for yourself over some whisky and crisps in the clubhouse.

Late summer round
First visit to this fine course and surely not the last.
The course was busy for a midweek round but that is no surprise given we were very lucky with the September sunshine and no more than an occasional breeze.
Interesting variety of holes and the course/green conditions were excellent.
Top notch :)
There’s some great holes on the course and it’s a good challenge
Simply perfect
The combination of the views (Firth of Forth, Linlithgow Palace, Scottish countryside and more), the quality of the golf course, the friendliness of the staff and the modest cost, made for a surprising, but perfect, day! We loved it!!!
Course in excellent condition
Greens in particular were fantastic, got round in 3 and a bit hours. Overall great course in great condition.
Amazing views
We played after torrential rain amd flooding, other than a few wet patches the course was in great condition. Very hilly and interesting layout with spectacular views. 360 degree at the very top. Friendly and helpful pro.
Challenging course but fair
We played at a very nice day with a fair wind. The course was prepared very good. lots of nice people that helped. Some holes were easy but most of the holes were challenging. Good shop nice pro.
Gem
Played this course recently got to say its a great course with great views and very friendly staff will definitely play again in the not too distant future.
Fantastic course...
Weather was superb, light winds, and very quiet.
We played in afternoon, competitions had been played AM.
course fantastic.
Views unbelievable down forth valley.
If you are organising an outing, this is one club you need to consider.
West Lothian hidden gem
Played this course previously during a charity day so was aware of the layout. As always it was in good condition
Some really quirky holes that require a full range of shots.Surprised it's not busier.Really nice clubhouse and friendly pro-Shop.
Good day
Pleasantly surprised. Course in decent condition considering recent weather conditions. A few climbs on the course but good layout. Great views all round. Nice welcome at club shop and a few tips for course. Really good value for money.
A West Lothian gem
Played the winter course which I wasn't expecting. Still 18 holes with about 5 odd holes on the lower portion missed out. The substitute holes do not disappoint though although quite a few par 3's. What I enjoyed was that the greens in November were in excellent condition. Most substitute holes had their own greens which are not normally in play for the normal course but you would never know given they rolled just as true. The course condition was also very good. We were lucky with the weather; perfectly sunny with no wind which made the views of the forth even better. £10 to play on the discount rate which was super value for money. I've played the full course before and can say that most holes are interesting with plenty of character. This really is one of my most favourite courses in west lothian and defo a contender for a possible membership next year. Would not hesitate to recommend.
It would be worth it for the views alone!
We turned up early because rain was forecast for later and there was a large group teeing off at the first, but the pro showed us how to find the 9th tee and we played without interruption. Above and beyond! The course is quite hilly but the climbs are made worthwhile for the spectacular views both up and down the River Forth. The course was in good condition, especially the greens.
Good test
Good test of golf, friendly pro / members and great views. Very friendly club, great value for money. Luckily played it in sunny weather which offered views of the Forth bridges and right across to Ben Lomond - its impressive (nevermind the monument by the first green). Some good, tricky holes with excellent drainage considering the recent wet weather. Fairways and greens in good condition, would certainly play again. Lunch in clubhouse was also good value.
Stunning views
First time of playing this course and was well pleased with the experience We were lucky enough to get a beautiful day and the views are stunning the course is not as easy as it looks . The course was busy with visitors so that talks for itself would definitely play again but would think about hiring a buggy . Made the mistake of not leaving time to get a bite at the clubhouse good prices and saw what was being served Won't make that mistake again
Thanks for a great day
Terrific, views outstanding and great golf to match
Made to feel very welcome at this lovely course. Some challenging holes on quite a hilly course but these terrific views out over the firth of forth on one side, Linlithgow on the other, are quite spectacular. Course in great condition.
Hidden gem!!
Played on a sunny, slightly windy day which added to the challenged. First off, the views of the Forth and Linlithgow are stunning. Was met by a very helpful and friendly professional. Course was a delight to play. Each hole was interesting and easy on the eye which offered some variety. The greens were very firm and fast, but in excellent conditions. Found it hard to get the ball to stick but that would be more down to my lack of skill. Run true and were consistent in pace. Accurate short game is essential as the greens could be considered on the tight side. Some blind shots but not many. Some fairways were a bit of thd tired dide but still early in yhe season so not a big deal. This is now my favourite course in the area and top of the list for possible membership next year. If you get a chance, play this course!! Will be back. :)
Round review
The course challenged all parts of your game with priority to play off the fairway otherwise you would find yourself out of position . be prepared to hit irons for position at some of the short par 4s. Definitely worth playing again
