Pine Ridge Golf Club

About
Pine Ridge Golf Club was carved from pine forests in central Long Island. Located in Coram, the course's player-friendly layout is a popular choice for all skill levels. The narrow, tree-lined fairways demand accuracy and the greens are fast and can be hard to read but it's not an overly punishing golf course for high handicappers. The risk-reward opportunities will test your course management and strategic thinking skills. If played smartly, you could find yourself with a birdie, particularly on the two driveable par 4s on the front nine. Several bunkers lurk throughout and water comes into play occasionally as well. You'll also face several sharp doglegs, both left and right. In addition to the golf course, Pine Ridge also offers a practice facility that includes a driving range, putting green, and a large grass teeing area.

Good for $25
Played today for the first time. It's very close and convenient for me and I use their driving range often. I know it's in rough shape so I've been hesitant to pay $50-$90 to play it. I sniped a deal last night to play for only $25 today so I figured why not? Honestly I had a great time and the front 9 was a lot of fun. The back 9 was challenging as it was but the greens in the back were hammered. Most of them were very very patchy and need a lot of work. I would really like to see them invest some money into this course and get it back into prime shape. I would happily play $50-$60 to walk this course during the week if it was maintained better. I really can't complain for $25 though, I would play here every day for that price since it reflects the conditions.
Fall golf
I enjoyed the layout of the course, but the leaves on the course made it difficult because it was tough to find the balls. They should take care of the course.
Run Down
From the very beginning when we checked in the pro shop employee was too busy with his cell phone to even greet us.
Tee boxes and perimeter of the faieprways in very poor condition.
Pine Ridge Golf Coram
This was one of the worst kept courses I have ever played. The paths were bumpy sand lots. The bunkers were a mess. The tee boxes pathetic. The greens were the only area well maintained. This course should charge $40 per round w/ a cart for the conditions. Throw in the driving range which is a total mess and this is not a course to return too.
Early Morning Magic
Got out around 6:42, and I was the only one on the course, and it was fantastic. The staff there were great, and offered advice on shot placement and challenges.
The groundskeepers were aerating, so I played the back 9 twice, which had been aerated the day before. The aeration wasn't a huge issue, but there were other course conditions that needed attention, like existing muddy runoff on walking paths and irrigation equipment hazards. The tee boxes were chopped up a bit, and there was lots of tee debris scattered for such an early part of the day. I only had to play a few shots where I needed to improve my lie because of aeration pockets or plugs.
The first time through, I set my own pace. I did slow down on the second pass, since other players had teed off.
I was frustrated at times that the mowers were out and cutting fairways and greens while playing through. At one point, a groundskeeper was present for about 7 holes in a row, on the green mowing while I was in play, waving me up and waiting for me to clear. It made reading the early morning greens difficult, and also provided a noisy distraction.
Overall, I loved the challenge of "amen corner," which the marshall appropriately nicknamed holes 11-14, for their long distances and challenging shot paths.
This course is fairly local for me, and I would play it again, especially as a practice round where I could take multiple shots, and work on my game in the expanse of an empty early morning course.
I remember it being a decent course years back.
But it’s like they just gave up on caring.
I wouldn’t recommend this place even if we’re free.
It’s a shame they let it go.
Terrable. Unplayable. BEWARE. Abandon corse.
Oh boy- we should have listened to the warnings. This is an abandoned golf course. Absolutely no maintenance whatsoever. You can tell at some point this was a very, very nice place But it is no longer -and hasn’t been for a while Boxes are very rough. Greens are hard and not green they are hard sand, and unusable. Fairways are primarily hard dirt with very little greenery Perhaps a touch of brown crabgrass. Concrete bunkers, which have not been cared for in many seasons. Broken sprinkler heads. Flooding…. No cartpath. Everything is soft beach like sand. Geese deoppings everywhere. Bottom line is this place has not been cared for in many years. Really bad. Please don’t waste a beautiful day like us. There’s a reason tee times are abundant here. Stay away. No food, no Resturaunt, no rangers. nobody cares…. It’s a disgrace I can’t believe it’s not closed down. Just unacceptable. .
