Great course
Narrow but fun. Not a difficult course. Conditions were amazing, especially the greens.
Great course
The course was in very good condition. The fairways and greens were very good. Would recommend this course to anyone
Excellent course. 2 of the green were being redressed which can’t be helped. Overall would definitely return . Unfortunately the round took us over 4 hours as a 3 ball not good. Four ball in front didn’t show good etiquette when the opportunity arose and let us play through. Very slow players
Fabulous course - highly recommend
Our 3rd time playing this gem of a course, and despite the persistent dry weather, the course was in a great condition. The fairways were a little yellow from the heat and drought, but the greens were excellent yet again. Great layout, with a fantastic mixture of different challenges at each hole. A well stocked club shop, lovely putting green and bar facilities. We haven't eaten there but a good selection of draught and bottled beers are available.
Would thoroughly recommend. Staff and members welcoming and helpful.
Great round
Had a lovely round, took just over 3 hours. Course looked lovely
This course is in a beautiful setting.
Cardiff Golf club could be one of the best courses around if it wasn't in poor condition.
The fairways are blotchy the greens are fluffy and you have to tee off on Mats on some holes. Such a Shame as the course layout and views are unreal.
1st round of the season!
Warm welcome, with a kind offer from the pro' upon arrival, to rebook at a later date, at a discounted rate if we wished, in view of the quality of the course due to recent rainfall and a heavy overnight downpour.
However, although the course was very wet and muddy in places, overall it was in pretty good condition and we thoroughly enjoyed our round.
A great day and the club is certainly worth a visit.
Not up to usual high standards
Played CGC many times and have always enjoyed it, greens are always really good and this time was no exception, the fairways weren't their normal high standards and around the greens of some holes weren't manicured like in the past, the club shop was closed when I got there but put that down to being 17:30 on a Sunday, course was quiet and played well, I'm just used to this course being in tip top condition, it was aguably in better condition when I played in April.
Lovely course. Beware the dinosaur on the 12th tee
I'm restarting golf after 30 years with the time constraint of of 4 children having prevented play. I had a lovely round at Cardiff, course and weather great. I played behind 3 ladies who guided me for the first 10 holes where they finished. As putted out on the 11th, three elderly gents appeared on the 12th tee and began to set up to play. I gave them a questioning look. One of them said as I was a single and had started at the 11th they were cutting in from the 9th as I had no standing on the course. I politely pointed out I hadn't started at the 11th, I been following a group of ladies from the start. To which he made a sexist comment. This clearly embarrassed his playing partners who confirmed to him I d been in front of them all afternoon and it was they who were cutting in front of me and I should proceed to play. The dinosaur wasn't happy, he asked if I was a member .I said no a visitor. He said if I'd been a member he would have reported me as it wasn't permitted to play 2 balls on their course . I'd hit a poor chip on the 11th, dropped another ball and played and putted out both balls. With not a sole behind I wasn't holding anyone up. His partners , against his wishes encouraged me to play in front of them. Guess what? I duffed my tee shot into the brook and took 7 on the par 3. After 30 years I thought the Dinosaurs who were around in the 70s and 80s were extinct. Clearly one has survived in Cardiff . I thank his playing partners who allowed me to maintain my position on the course and complete a
smashing round. 107 , one par, nothing worse the 8 and one 4 putt arrgh!
Lovely morning
Great course, had a lovely knock but lost some balls. Was tough, will be back.
Fastest greens east of Augusta
Wow what a hard yet beautiful course. Loved every moment. The greens were the fastest and truest i have played ever!
