Cecil Field Golf Club

About
Fiddler's Green at Cecil Field Golf Club is located at the Cecil Commerce Center, formerly the Cecil Field Naval Air Station. The golf course was built in 1975 and has been managed by Capstone Golf since 2005.
Fiddler's Green is a regulation 18-hole course in a beautiful tree-lined setting with no development on its borders. The course offers a stern challenge, measuring 6,643 yards from the championship tees. The course rating is 71, and it has a slope rating of 125.
Towering pines shape the course as it weaves its way around the serene natural setting. Fiddler's Green's generous fairways leave challenging approach shots to some of the smallest putting greens in the area.

Even if it was free I’d never play here again!!!!
Let’s start with we arrived 30 min early to get range time in, no carts were available, there was a waiting list for the carts that extended over a hr. There was no range balls after only 3 groups got one bucket. The greens and T-boxes are sand pits. The ruff is dang RUFF knee high grass in some places.
WORST GOLF COURSE IVE EVER PLAYED IN MY LIFE!
DO NOT GO HERE
I am all about going to a cheap course with somewhat fair conditions just to have new scenery BUT this course was absolutely not worth it one bit. The cheapest of the course is actually an over pay for what you get with this course. They don not care about golfers at all and do not care about course condition at all. The greens are no different than rough from a decent course ( I would like to say they are worse than a decent course's rough IMO). You will lose balls in the fairway from the lack of maintaining the courses condition, the bunkers are filled with roots and grass, The tee boxes are un even and just over all ran down. The staff makes you feel like an outcast if you show up to golf as well. I can go on and on about how terrible this course is but it would be a waste of time. I just do not want people to waste their time and money at this course. Even for a beginner golfer do not go here, It is over all the worst experience i have ever had golfing and i go to ALOT of municipal courses that are "ran down" I recommend for a cheap tee time Brentwood golf course or Palm Valley pat 3 course. This place is the biggest money and time mistake ever. PLEASE do not go here i promise it is not worth the price.
A big NO!
Having played this course countless times and seen it in various playing conditions, I have to say it's the worst I've ever seen it. Lumpy inconsistent greens, barely mowed fairways and dilapidated golf carts that can't even make it 18 holes. We need courses like Cecil for seniors, youngsters and beginners to play, but people also deserve to get some value for their money. Currently, that isn't happening here. So sad.
You get what you pay for
I had not played this course for about a year. The greens were in such bad shape it wasn’t helping my game. This time I found the fairways in decent shape. The greens are still bumpy but not the worst I have played. I brought my Matt to chip with. Otherwise you are chipping out of sand. It was better than I remember. But still in need of green maintenance. You get what you pay for.
Get what you pay for
Greens are horrendous, might as well pick your ball up once hitting the green. Grass is St Augustine grass like your grandfather’s backyard. No sand in the bunkers, no distinction between ruff and fairways. All the fairways are made out of weeds and clovers lol
Terrible
This course cost $27.50 and I feel like I overpaid by about $20. The course is in terrible condition, The golf cart died halfway through hole 11. Just a terrible experience
Terrible
Course is terrible. There is no difference in fairways or rough, all grass is terrible. Greens are in very rough condition. Half the flags were broken and not standing upright so you could not have a target. This course needs new management. It was $22 and it was not worth my time or money
You get what your pay for
The course needs a lot of work and especially the greens. Reviews confirmed that the conditions were not great and would recommend somewhere if you are looking to play a round. I think it could be a neat track if someone’s willing to put some money into it. It has small greens and potential to be a great track if some work could be put into it. Do not expect much when you go and good luck getting a cart when you go as they were short when I checked in.
The fairways were very high, we lost a total of five balls in the fairway, and the greens were very rough.
So much potential
I love me a cheap and cheerful golf course and this location has that feel. It’s cheap and easy going but the course is in really bad condition. There is no distinguishable fairways, the greens are almost impossible to putt on and tee boxes with corresponding signage are falling apart. Fun course to drive balls on for practice but make sure you pack extra balls with you.
Sunday, September 3, 2023 s 11:30 am tee time.
The young on duty did not accept Golfnow and refused to lo allow play.
I went On Monday, September 4th I called the golf course and was not able to speak to a manager. They claimed that they didn’t have any more cart.
Very Sad
I first played here in late ‘70s when I was stationed at NAS Cecil Field. I heard that the course was not in good shape but for nostalgia reasons I went out to play. The fairway were like moderate rough on other regional course; the bunkers were firm packed sand with vegetation growing in the and the greens were poorly covered and very slow; about 4 on the Stimpmeter. The course design/layout is nice and challenging but conditions make it almost impossible to play. List a number of balls in the fairway sine the grass was 1-2 inches long. A very sad decline of what used to be a fine, fun course.
Awful
This was by far the worst golf course I have played on in 10 years, I paid $140 for a four sum and I wish I could get every penny back. The tee boxes and fairways have grass passed my ankles. The greens have dead brown grass and weeds all over it, I lost ALOT of balls in the fairway grass. Ridiculous. DO NOT GOLF HERE!!!
Back 40 golf
To be honest I have seen driving ranges better maintained. The place is absolutely a sad situation. Good luck finding your ball off the drive even when it dead center of the fairway. The greens are all over grown and almost should be the fairway. After the second hole there was no reason to even grab the putter out. We cut it short by 7 holes as it just was not fun and very miserable. I’m more shocked as it use to be a military course. None the less probably not booking back through golf pass as the representation was not very accurate. However if you enjoy playing where’s Waldo with your ball in your grandads back 40 this place would be perfect.
