Don’t be drawn in by low pricing!

Booked through GN and was delighted with getting what I thought was a really hot deal because I absolutely love this golf course and consider it the best in the area.
On arrival everything was as normal. Checked in ok and drove to the first tee. Looked over to a barren practice area and joked with the starter suggesting there may be an issue with sprinklers. It was only then that I discovered that every green on the course had been treated and scraped.
They are about to close down for 5 months to replace all of the greens and they’ve taken the greens down to base level after treating and killing off all of the grass. Effectively leaving a surface like concrete with no grass. Probably upwards of 16 speed.
As they’re closing for 5 months, they appear to have neglected some of the rest of the course also. So no greens and patchy fairways. The tee boxes are in poor shape too.
I paid under $50 to play it, thinking I had grabbed a bargain, but I left feeling way overcharged.
They should be telling people on GN at the point of booking (which in this case was the point of payment) that the greens are basically unplayable. Instead, they’re raking in the last remnants of cash before returfing the greens.
Really disappointing. I’ve come to expect better from them.

Don't bother

Greens have been killed in preparation for green replacement. No way they should have charged me full price.

Every green dead

When i booked this, i was unaware that they've killed every green on purpose!!! Apparently redoing all greens starting may 5th. Putting was like trying to putt on a garage floor. Very disappointing

Beautiful Course but Unplayable Greens

Played this course today, as it was heavily recommended by multiple local persons a a “must play”. I can absolutely see why this course would be a fantastic place to play when the conditions are okay, but to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. They recently killed the greens, and don’t advertise this, and it’s not hyperbole to say they literally roll similar to a cart path; you simply cannot stop a ball. Along with that, the fairways are in pretty rough shape - tons of divots and dead areas.

I will definitely be back next year on our trip, however, I would say to anyone else out there, for the next 6 months while the greens and fairways get redone, you can find tons of better options out there for the money. The course is maybe worth it 30 bucks in the condition it’s in.

Brown greens

When we were researching this course there were high ratings. Unfortunately when we arrived we found out that the greens were being redone and were completely dead. We found out from the starter. We would have liked to have known so we could have decided if we wanted to play. Also a discount for play would have been fair. We were very disappointed.

Burning out Greens

I wouldn’t recommend there until they finish with the greens!! The rest of course is good, but the greens are like putting on linoleum. So fast and hard to judge speed!!!!

Greens

We booked a tee time on the app, when checking in, we were told “by the way, we sprayed the greens 2 weeks ago”. Meaning they killed the grass in preparation of replacing the greens starting in a few weeks. They had sprayed them before we booked our times. I feel we were duped.. we made the best of it… we like this course otherwise.

Course

Course was in fair condition, but they are closing in May to refurbish the course. Considering it was in great shape. Greens were fast and true.

No Cart or Water

Generally I love this course. But yesterday it was hot, very slow, and there was no cart service. Plus, the water jugs at the filling stations were bone dry. This isn’t usually an issue, but was tough to get through all 18 with these conditions.

Nice

Course has beautiful scenery. Had the morning tee time which was nice, 4 hour round and started off the back. No issues running into the front. Back is harder than the front. If you are going to be paired with randoms they will most likely be seniors and members. They are very nice and funny though, and some are pretty dang good. Greens are okay, better than a muni but give them 3 years after they are redone in May and open back up in October this year(2025). Tift eagle will take some time to set, but they should be really nice. Driving range is still nice with the renovations, better than some I’ve seen but definitely sandy and needing some more grass. Trackman to come so that’s pretty sweet. Bunker are phenomenal. Not super tight fairways but you can’t get away with too much. Price was a little more than I thought it should be but only because of all the renovations and older greens. But not awful for a weekend price compared to some of these other courses. I recommend playing it and will be back!

Beautiful Layout

This course was absolutely gorgeous. The fairways and bunkers were in tremendous condition. The greens look to be a bit dated, but I did find out they are replacing them this coming summer. The staff was extremely helpful and the local members were very inviting. I will definitely play this course again if I visit the Jacksonville area.

Greens were awful, otherwise a nice course

I haven't played here for a couple of years. Prices really escalated compared to courses closer to my home locally. Last week prices were better. Not sure why. But I wondered if it was reduced because of conditions? Never seen greens like this...rock hard, grass appeared dead everywhere. Pace of play was slow, no marshals. I would go back at this price when greens improve. It is a very nice layout and is fun to play.
