One of my favorites
I’ve I been playing deer pass for 10 years. Coworkers and I return once or twice every year. About a 45 min. Lite morning traffic drive west from Cleveland. One of our favorite holes is 7. Ohio’s version of sawgrass island green. 5 and 6 needs to be placed also.
Two members in our group were 1st Tee Coaches
Golfed just before noon. Staff welcomed our threesome, very friendly; explained course, amenities and even informed us of future specials. Rode 18 holes on powerful gas carts. General Manager came out and chatted with us on the first tee. He was very friendly and made us feel welcomed to his facility. Course was beautiful and well maintained. Excellent golfing experience from first tee to final tee. Most notable was challenge of the course. Even the par 3's were challenging. Course is well marked with yardage markers on each side of the fairway. Fantastic golfing experience. Located just off I-76 at I-71 cutoff easy to get to and I highly recommend to average and experienced golfers.
Only played this course for the price.
Very slow play. Got what I expected for the $10 I paid to play 18 with a cart.
Lots of roll due to dray fairways
Fairways very dry and short due to this course location in the country without any water supply other than rain water and retention ponds that are at a very low level of water due to lack of rain. I played 54 holes and loved it anyhow.
course in poor condition
I like this course but all of NE Ohio has been very dry and a lot of the fairways and some of the green are in poor condition
Nice course, with challenging holes
The staff was very friendly and even had a ranger on the course to keep pace of play going. The greens was a little slow and only in average condition. Overall had great time on this course and will be back.
Worth every penny
Love this course, one of my favorites. Challenging but not overly hard.
Golf Outing Tune-up
I will be playing in a golf outing at Deer Pass on Friday 8/5. I really enjoy playing this course Chad and his staff are excellent. We arrived late for are tee time and they were very accommodating with me. The course was in good condition as it could be with lack of rain. I highly recommend this course for regular play and hosting an outing.

Great bargain
We played eighteen with a cart for ten dollars. Best bargain I've had golfing ever. The course played well with some challenges that will test all levels. Pace of play was quick and conditions were nice I will return to enjoy myself again
Fun Little Course
This course is super short (under 6000 yards from tips), but it is not so simple that you can just bomb and gouge and break 80. Course was in decent shape, holes 8-11 sit in the lowest spot and were wet, but OK. Staff very friendly, and free yardage book. Lots of blind shots into greens. Hole 18 is still under construction, but I can see it being a monster of a finishing hole. Greens were on the slower side and a little inconsistent on the back nine. The greens, and blind shots/elevation make this course more challenging then it seems. A good deal for the price, hope this course doesn't get too chewed up over the summer.
Note on the greens: if you can't hit a wedge high and spin it, play short of the green. There are severe mounds on some of these small greens and if you hit a hot shot or the wrong place the ball will kick off. Play short and bounce it on.
good
good course always pretty nice, if you can deal with rude staff, then you will have a good round. Lady taking money was nice, everyone else very rude!!
Gone Downhill
When Chad took over at Deer Pass, you could see the improvements in the course. This was the first time that I played Deer Pass this season, and unfortunately course conditions have deteriorated immeasurably.
It began at the first tee where I could not get a tee to go into the ground, it was so hard. Then a nicely hit 8 iron to the second green bounced about 30 feet into the air and into the woods behind the green. Fairways were bare in many spots indicating a lack of water this summer, even though their lakes were down considerably. Pace of play was terrible on the back nine where a threesome followed by a foursome of their friends were never in their fairway and just took forever to play. I was on twelve in the left rough by my ball, which I marked with my hat, so that I could drive forward over the hill to see if it was clear to hit. While I was doing that the foursome that was on thirteen drove up to my hat/ball and was getting ready to play it as theirs. He said that he thought I had marked his ball for him. His ball was twenty yards past mine and more in the center of the twelfth fairway. Some people just don't belong on a golf course. Of course no rangers were to be seen to help keep things moving.
I payed less than ten dollars for 18 and can not consider it a worthwhile expenditure. I have probably played my last round at Deer Pass as I can not see things improving any time soon.
