The Club at Venetian Bay

About
The Club at Venetian Bay is part of a unique residential community with a Mediterranean theme. Colorful buildings, mosaics, and Mediterranean vegetation surround the championship golf course. The biggest challenge for the designers was transforming what was formerly a cow pasture into a lush, challenging course. The design team of Clifton, Ezell, and Clifton seemed to have little trouble doing so. The front nine plays through the woods while the back nine is more open with a few links-style touches. The most prominent feature of this golf course is the abundance of sand bunkers. There are more than 100 strategically placed throughout. The bunkers present a formidable test but they are nicely balanced with ample landing areas. They are also geared more towards low handicappers, which means they aren't intended to kill your round.

Ok condition
The course is usually in very good condition but this time the tee boxes were terrible and there was a lot of crab grass on the fairways and greens.
Time to take a break from VB
Greens borderline unplayable. Weeds are sprouting everywhere and drastically affecting the line a ball makes to the hole. It’s pretty bad.
Bunkers not draining well. The course is scorched. I played it a month ago and it was very good. Give it time I guess!
When the rates go down and conditions improve it will be a great overall experience.
ventian bay
Love the layout, nice people working there. However...please water the greens. I know we need rain here in Central Florida, but thats no excuse not to turn on the sprinkler system and let some grass grown. On this day they were brownish...and super fast. On some greens it was really hard when putting to get the ball to stop.
Good layout
Would love this course if it were in better condition. It’s an excellent set up and somewhat beat up
Weeds and hardpan otherwise good
Not awful by any means, but the ground was hardpan and greens had weeds all in them and weeds growing all over the place. Maybe drought has kept them from treating the course or something, but this course always takes a step back after showing improvement.
Slow play
If you want to play 5-hour round this is the course to play no rangers seeing the cart girl one time in 5 hours fairways are dead no grass the tea boxes most of them are dead with no grass no sand in the bunkers and the greens have nothing but weeds not worth it I know you people from up North think it's a beautiful course but I hate to see what courses you play
Needs Grass
The course could be amazing !!!
However, the fairways are hardpan and very short on grass. The T boxes are similar to the fairways and need to be reseeded or fixed.
We also experienced a 5-hour round of golf without a single ranger seen all day. On the first par 3 we encountered a 3 group back up.
On a positive note, the fairways are large, and the course has a great set up with a mix of water and fun dog leg holes. I will return here for more golf and use the "winter rules" for moving my ball to try and find some grass. Also, great wildlife. I saw a few gators, turkeys, and plenty of FL wildlife.
This should be the No. 2 course in the greater NSB area behind the Sugar Mill CC.
Slow play, could be better.
Very slow round, waiting on every shot, no ranger. Conditions could be better, crabgrass on greens, sandy areas made putting a guessing game. The course has a nice layout, it is spread out so you are not on top of other golfers.
Not worth the higher price.
We were very disappointed with the course conditions given its one of if not the highest public playing cost in the area. I wouldn’t advise anyone to play there until you get what you are paying for.
Okay course by regional comparison.
The management should reconsider playing music when you are by the bag drop and entering the golf shop. I and my guests have played many a course and have never seen this. I guess they want an experience like the Waste Management Open in Arizona.
Good shape. Greens quick and no sandy spots
VB is in better shape than it has been in a while. The greens are quick and smooth with few sandy bare spots, which used to be a staple on these greens. The fairways were in good shape. Tee boxes were okay. The rest of the course including bunkers, rough and outside the fairways are pretty worn and some attention is needed. Wide open layout though which makes the course fun and also has interesting lay out.
Great track
Really enjoyed this course - plenty of different things to enjoy - not your standard, flat, boring FLA course
Really enjoy this course
The course is apparently under new management. I have played this course twice in the last week. Again tomorrow. It's in the best shape I've seen it in years (I'm a snowbird). Only complaint, we're some of the tees aren't in great shape. Staff were great. Met one of the managers on the course the other day (Ben). Very professional.
