Slow Play
This is a course that should be played in 3 hours 30 minutes tops I’ve played this course well over 40 times over the years and unfortunately Covid brought out many people that don’t have a clue about etiquette and pace of play. The last time I played it took over 4 hours and thought seriously about not returning. We were again off to a miserably slow start but luckily there was a Marshall that took his position seriously and moved a group of 4 behind us and two other groups. We ended up finishing in 3:40. This is still the finest executive course in NorCal but the pace of play needs to improve
Sanded and very slow greens. Quirky course with lots of par 3s. Challenging holes affected by wind and elevation changes. Pace of play was pretty slow and noted players playing multiple balls. Wish they had a driving range or at least a net to warm up on.
The course needs some TLC. The bunkers are unplayable and not being maintained at all. Greens were recently aerated? Good executive course for practice.
Nice advanced beginners course/shorter course
First time playing here and alot of the things I read about the course are true.
I can't speak of pace since 1 player was ahead of me and I played solo.
Course was in pretty good condition, some holes had roped off areas, some spots were saturated with water. But 11 par 3s, meaning there was only 7 fairways to consider.
Practice your putting, its true you will 3 put alot, unless you hit your irons accurately.
Greens are huge(I repeat huge) in pretty decent shape for a public course. Very challenging as they have alot of slopes.
The par 4 and 5s are challenging but you have to be able to hit drives to a spot otherwise you will find trouble. This was the case for 6/7 holes that were not par 3s, sort of links feel on those 6 but I wouldn't necessarily call this a links style course.
This course seem like an advanced beginners 9 hole course that's actually an 18 hole.
I will definitely come back, but I do prefer a traditional course with more par 4/5s.
Suggestion
I suggest you reopen the restaurant. Always nice to have a indoor seating area for a drink, food and chat after a round. The snack bar is ok for a 9 hole pit stop but not inviting for a drink or meal with friends after the round.
Although the course had some sectioned off areas due to damaged fairways,, it was otherwise pristine. Staff was super friendly and helpful and made the day even brighter. greens were a little rough but will be good in a week or so
