Waste of money
Worst course I’ve ever played on! Very first negative review I’ve ever given. I wished I’d have found this site prior to golfing today! It’s sad because thi really could be an amazing course but has been so neglected, it looked more like a cow pasture, not sure if wild hogs were the ground keepers or what was happening many areas randomly dug up on each green. The play was fast as it should have been because we were pretty the only two people on the course. Trails had dead branches sticking out, one swept my wife’s cheek just under her eye, they were on the trail one crossing a small plank bridge, so dangerous! The course had more holes and unexpected dips than a land mine which hearing constant shots in the background made one wonder where we really were.
Be aware you cannot bring your own beverages however that’s “par” for most courses, but at least then they will then have beverage carts. No bathroom cabins or porta potties on the course either. We have golfed a several other courses since our arrival in Texas, specifically Conroe area, and the hospitality of staff were amazing, the grounds, the trails, facility and services were top notch!
This is by far the worst golf course and experience I’ve ever had. THIS!! This is also my first negative review ever written and the reason is to give people a heads up to not waste your time or money because I had all I could do to finish the first round! I wish I’d have found this site first! Sad because it could be a premier golf course! I realize too the course can’t control outside noises but when everything else was miserable it just added to an already unpleasant experience, in fact wwe actually joked about! Oh, how we/I wished we wouldn’thave done the home work and checked out reviews better than we did! But I always thought i could swing my clubs any chance I got but this was too much! Literally!!
Terrible
Hopefully someone will buy this course and give it the care it needs. Has been going downhill for years. Now pretty much unplayable. Play elsewhere.
So Many Problems Here but Cheap
This course fell off a cliff when it was bought out. Its almost like the management doesn't even care here. I know I played in the winter but even during the spring and summers the course has been in horrible condition. Tons of dead spots on fairways and greens with some tee boxes not even having grass, just loose topsoil. The middle age, black haired check in guy can be rude. Its almost funny how the range balls here are just random balls probably raked out from the ponds. Not to mention there is a high-power gun range not far from the course which can be distracting at times. By far the worst thing here are the carts which are GPS tracked and will turn off at random even when you are in an allowable area and will have to push the cart back onto the path. Overall, I would steer clear of this place unless you want a quick round because this place is dead on weekdays.
Disappointment
After the rains we've had and the hot weather, we assumed that this would be a good time to revisit the Links. NOT! No grass on most tee boxes, snack bar closed, un-friendly check-in guy, and the worst mowing job on the greens made this round bad for our group. The mowing was the worst; it looked like a wheel on the mower had a flat spot. Grooves were gouged down to bare dirt. If this was a one off, it will require weeks to recover.
Decent Course (Owner/management) Horrible to staff and members
I was new to the area and looking for a place to play regularly...everyone I met at this place were top-notch people so I joined based on the people (members and staff). Throughout the period of a year I came to realize that there was such an ugly element associated with this place...I witnessed several interactions that one of the managing owners had with both employees and members. The way this gentleman spoke to employees and members alike makes me wonder how this guy stays in business...from calling employees stupid and dumb to his combative attitude with members over the most trivial of things was more than I could tolerate...I am a man of principle and honor and refuse to allow someone of his caliber to profit from my money so I terminated my membership on Jan. 01/21. Never have enough golf carts the play is unbearably slow and the carts are old run down and in ill repair...I will miss the members and friends I developed there, but you have to stand up against what you know in your heart isn’t right!
Course has gone down hill
This course was in great condition not 2 months ago but that has definitely changed. Fairways are basically just burnt grass and greens are bumpy and sandy. It’s 100 degrees outside and they won’t let you bring your own drinks yet don’t have a beverage cart out on a busy Saturday afternoon. I know it’s COVID times and all and everyone is flipping out but at least have a beverage cart.
I think once they get the course back in good condition this will be an excellent place to play but until then I advise you to find somewhere else to play.
Terrible Course Conditions and Staff
The course is in terrible condition and the customer service was atrocious at West Fork golf club. I’m not sure if the course reviews have been coming in frequently on Golf Advisor but I would recommend checking out their reviews on yelp for a stronger picture of the quality of the course and staff. (1.5/5 stars) I would not recommend this course to anybody in the area as there are much nicer and cheaper options in abundance. Don’t be fooled by the pictures on Golf Advisor as the greens and fairways are not in nearly as good as shape as maybe they used to be, it is pretty burnt up and really has no redeemable qualities.
Horrible experience
I have golfed West Fork many time in the last 5 years and have noticed a drastic decrease of the course. Before my terrible experience yesterday, the last time I golf here was around a year to year and half ago. At that time the course didn't even have greens. Anyways, they supposedly redid the course but it seems in pretty bad shape for being recently renovated. When I played yesterday my range finder wouldn't work because they didn't change the flags when the changed the holes. Staff was extremely rude and the group golfing behind us literally tee off a few short minutes after we did cause us to have to rush, due to a pushing golf course ranger. For a course that used to be one of my favorite it is now on my least favorite list. I wouldn't recommend wasting your money golfing here
New Management/owners
I’ve been a visitor to this course for the last 5 years. It’s most certainly had its ups and downs with personal and course management. The new owner has made some significant changes by cutting the deadwood both in the clubhouse and on the course!
Time will tell but I have high hopes for the turn around.
Rude check in person and horrible course
By far the rudest person I've ever come in contact with when you first get there (checking everyone in to pay at the counter). Ridiculous - they need to think about how they want a first impression.
One of the worst layouts I've ever seen for the front 9 - WOW. And on top of that it appears they've given up ever the appearance they are trying to maintain it. Back 9 has some potential and the couple other staff members we spoke with were great - it's just too bad that both items are well after you're so disappointed you spent any time at all coming to this place. We will NEVER GO BACK.
Wouldn’t call it a Country Club
Ehhhhh ok pace of play was so slow and had to wait 7 min per shot. Pretty place but would call it a country club. I would call it a nice golf course in the middle of nowhere.
Better than last time
I think it was June when I last played Westfork and I will say its in better shape than this summer , the greens are better but the fringes are not in good shape, they are bare and sometimes muddy. Glad to see the greens had improved. Teed off at noon and the marshal put a tournament out in front of us after we had started. Ended up having to go around foursome that was pitifully slow. Not happy the course did that after we had teed off???
Really Fun Course
I love playing at West Fork. Wonderful and friendly people playing and the staff is wonderful. There’s not a more kind Marshall than Jerry! Just today, I saw 10 deer. Can’t forget the gator at the end of the 10th green!
Always a Blast
Greens are looking good. All of the high hazards have been trimmed down. Every visit, I meet another wonderful player. Wildlife is awesome.
Took a friend for his first West Fork round
Great time. No slower players in front of us. Good conditions on the course. Greens continue to fill-in and improve. Great sand the couple of times we hit into bunkers. My friend was impressed with the course, scenery, and wildlife playing through.

Thank you for the 4 stars! We're glad you enjoyed your round at West Fork Golf & Country Club. Be sure to come play again soon!
Great Improvements !!
If you played West Fork six months ago come back you will be amazed at the turn around they have made on their greens . West Fork will always be one of the areas most scenic courses with houses only on the last three holes but in addition to that it's great to see it getting back to being my favorite course. It's layout will challenge you but if you play smart you can score well.Everyone that works their is always friendly with a smile and sitting on the deck after a round drinking a beer looking out at the lake is definitely relaxing . As each week has passed they continue to improve . Thank you West Fork !

i was there last week, greens are still terrible, and i cant say much about the staff, very rude people.

Thank you for the wonderful 5-star review! We're happy to hear you recognized all of the improvements we've made and that West Fork is one of your favorite courses. Bring family and friends next time!

Thank you for visiting us at West Fork Golf & Country Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Westfork
I quit playing this course several months ago because of the slow play and conditions. But I’m back, the course is in decent condition now, pace of play great no waiting or hurrying. They had a Marshall today and he was very friendly. I will a regular again. Keep up the good work.

i was there for the final time last Saturday and unfortunately will not be back, we had two people chasing us down on hole one because we had separate carts, this was a 2pm tee off and there were still about fifteen carts available at the club house, but the two carts behind us had individual players with there spouses tagging along, which i thought was against the courses policy.
definitely will not be back, but the cherry for us is we found 240 balls that day.
