Amazing quality for a muni!!
The golf course was beautiful. Let's go step by step.
We arrived to the new blacktop parking lot and a very nice new clubhouse. The pro shop was larger, better lit, and more welcoming than the previous one. Covered seating with televisions and tables awaited you that overlooked Pecan #1. While we didn't eat at the course, "Persimmons", the brand new restaurant looked and smelled great.
We played Mockingbird and Bluebonnet. The golf carts were some of the nicest that we've had the chance to use. Each cart has a club head cleaner, two sand bottles, and full color GPS with distance to hazards and the green (front, middle, and back). The tee boxes were in great shape, each clearly marked (black, blue, white, or purple). The fairways (what little I saw of them) were very well mown and maintained. The rough wasn't PGA tournament length, but still very challenging. Sand bunkers (yep, found a couple with my shots) appeared recently redone. They were full of sand, no weeds, and crisp edges. The greens were beautiful and fast. Carts paths were in very good shape with very few cracks that were noticeable when driving over them. There are large numbers of signs directing you to the next tee box, course, or restroom!
We encountered the cart girl no less than 7 times in 18 holes. Several of the holes were close to restrooms and, more importantly in the Texas summer, water fountains. All appeared in good repair and I drank from bottles that I filled at the water fountains.
All if the staff members that we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful. Everyone was so nice that it made any one standout above the rest!
Grapevine
Overall the course is in very good condition. The grounds crew deserve special recognition for how well the bunkers are being maintained during Covid-19 mandates (no rakes in bunkers). The layout has a bit of everything, forced carries, water hazards, narrow fairways. The greens are smooth and roll well. It's a great alternative to its pricey next door neighbor.
Average round
The staff was friendly, the practice area could use some work, the tee boxes were somewhat worn, fairways were overwatered in places leaving mud traps, and the greens needed work. Greens had weeds sprouting through which made it difficult to get a true roll. For the price i expect more. Overall it is still a nice course that just could use a little TLC.
Pecan/bluebonnet challenging
Start was on time and pace was good. Course was kept in good shape for a hot summer day. Greens and fairways were in good shape but were very challenging. Greens were especially tricky Playing slow or fast depending on the hole. Roughs were high and difficult. Challenging course for any golfer. Carts were kept clean and thoroughly washed after each round.
Course conditions
This course is in almost perfect shape.
1. Greens were absolutely perfect
2. Fairways and roughs were best i’ve played on this year.
3. Tee’s looked great but were just starting to get hard before the rains.
4. Pace of play was very good-only a couple of short waits total out of the 18 holes.
5. Only negative thing to say was social distancing wasn’t really practiced except to initially pay. Shared carts with club and ball wash available-refreshments-inside facilities all pretty much normal.
Best public track in North Texas
The best public in North Texas. 3 nines for variety. Great conditions. Great pro shop staff. 4 & 1/2 hour rounds on Saturdays. All that at a great price
Public course
For a public govt owned course it’s great. Green in great shape. Pace of play was only drawback. But many of the other courses in the area that day were booked up so higher then normal number of players
A very scenic and nice track to play golf at ....
The whole enter property is amazing and so many trees and foliage all over the place. That was really amazing and the greens and fairways are in tip top shape. My only gripe is the sand traps, but I also believe there was moisture in them. Means I should have brought a heavier wedge... All in all this is a fantastic place and I will definitely be back. I encourage and suggest that you play these wonderful courses .....
Course is in great shape!
First time playing Grapevine. I walked 9 holes (Pecan) and the course is in fantastic shape. Played in the evening and pace of play was not an issue. I'll definitely be back when I have more time to play a full 18.
ITS A MUNICIPAL COURSE FOR SURE
CLUBHOUSE STAFF VERY FRIENDLY, PACE OF PLAY AND COURSE ETIQUETTE IS WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM A MUNICIPAL COURSE I GUESS.. WAY TOO MANY 5 PLAYER GROUPS AND WALKERS THAT DIDN`T KNOW ETIQUETTE AT ALL.. FOR THE VALUE WOULD MAYBE TRY AGAIN BUT NOT ON THE SHORT LIST
One of the best courses in Dallas
Played this course in the afternoon after working the Byron Nelson. Not quite as good as Las Colinas but a real bang for the buck. Greens were really good and the fairways were plush. Loved the layout and the sand is as good as it gets. Will definitely play again when we return to Dallas.
Best Condition Ever
This course has gone through one big transformation since the severe flooding of 2 years ago. It has recovered and is better than ever. From tee to green for course is super, and all the bunkers have been redone. Course is very playable , easy to walk most holes, and alternates among the 3 nine hole layouts. Our church league has just been amazed by all the improvements that have taken place. I look forward to playing here every week. The guys really like the new carts and GPS systems to assist their game. Lots of jets flying over if you love airplanes!!
Great course but terrible customer service
Nice enjoyable course however Customer Service was terrible.
Terrible staff, great course
The three nine-hole courses are great and a terrific value. The staff is consistently surly and unfriendly.
Great value!!
Overall always in great shape. Tee boxes were a little thin but still level. Bunkers are being renovated and are great. Green could be in better shape if golfers would learn to fix their divots. Only saw the beer cart once all day
Staff is very arrogant and unfriendly to guests of the course.
Horrible staff in the pro shop. They were very unprofessional and rude and though I paid for a cart and a round of golf they refused me a cart by myself. They made me ride with some foreign person I didn't know even though there was no one on the course, the parking lot was empty, and there were 50 carts ready to go parked in front of the clubhouse. I will never play here again!
The golf course was a joke! Stephen
Fun course
Great course for the money. $50 is a steal for this course.
