Fun course to play
I played today with friends. I really like the layout. All the holes are different with uphill and downhill. The greens are really good with some challenging undulations.. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Overall an enjoyable round.
This visiting Canadian had another relaxing and enjoyable round of Texas hill country golf at the Buckhorn in Comfort.Very friendly and accommodating staff always there to make your experience the best it can be. Thank you to John, pro Michael and the rest of the staff. I will keep coming back when visiting here.
Cow pasture fairways
I’d stay away from the Buckhorn if going anytime soon. Made the drive from San Antonio to check it out, and disappointed I did so. Tee boxes and bunkers looked great. Everything else...not so much. Great practice facility first off. One of the better I’ve seen. Green on the course had what looked like bare fungus spots. The fairways were nothing more than weeds in most places that had been cut. Very wide, but extremely undulating in spots with pop up creeks. I wouldn’t say I great beginners course due to the odd lies from the uphill/downhill layout. Pass on this one, but play the other Forsight golf companies courses the Bandit and Republic, both are much nicer. This seemed like their forgotten about neglected sibling.
Forgiving fairways
Nice, green course. Friendly staff. Fairways are forgiving

The Buckhorn Golf Course Offers Hill Country Feel
This is not my first time playing The Buckhorn Golf Course and it surely won't be my last. The Buckhorn is great little track located a short 30-40 minute drive from San Antonio in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. The elevation changes and undulating greens give The Buckhorn a true hill country golf course feel. The golf course is not terribly difficult. It offers four sets of tees and measures 6,648 yards from the back tees, so it's fairly short for today's golf course standards.
The FRONT 9 provides golfers with a par 36 layout with five par-4's, two par-3's and two par-5's. The real challenge starts on hole 3 when a good drive is required to avoid the water hazard on the right. If you hit it in the fairway on #3, you'll have a downhill second shot of 250+ yards into a undulating green guarded by a small pond on the right. The ninth hole is the toughest hole on the golf course according to the handicap ranking. It's a straightaway par-4 but plays much longer than the scorecard reflects since you're playing right back into the wind.
The BACK 9 is a par 35 layout with four par-4's, three par-3's and two par-5's. There's more elevation changes on the BACK 9 so get ready for some tremendous views of the Texas Hill Country. The 11th hole is very challenging requiring you to hit a good drive to carry a creek that runs across the fairway. The 16th hole is another par-5 that has a fairly large landing area off the tee box but will then require you to hit a solid second shot to carry the creek if you choose to go for it in two.
If you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere with budget friendly green fees, The Buckhorn Golf Course in Comfort, TX is just for you.
Decent course but not worth the price
There is a lot room on this course, premium on length. Greens are pretty slow. Recycled water means lush fairways and rough. Not a terrible track and there are some cool holes but you can do better in the area. I'd recommend Scott Schreiner and Ladybird Johnson before this course.
Always in good condition
This course is always in great shape unless there is little rain for months on end. They don't have a reliable grey water source. Pretty wide fairways and forgiving for the most part. Worth the drive from San Antonio.
