Kingwood Golf Club & Resort

About
Kingwood Golf Club in Clayton is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, surrounded by nearly 150,000 acres of protected national forest. While playing the course, it's likely you'll hear the roar of the nearby Chattooga River. The course is considered one of Georgia's best, thanks in large part to the stunning location, which lends mature hardwoods, rippling brooks, and lush green hills. The visually stunning golf course can seem intimidating, but four sets of tees guarantee that players of all skill levels can enjoy playing it. The par-71 layout measures just over 6,000 yards, a demanding length given the small greens and tight landing areas. A variety of elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers will test your accuracy at Kingwood G.C. Tee shot placement will also be an important factor in your score.

Beautiful course, beautiful staff!
Best November golf north of I-10! Beautiful rolling hills, elevation and scenic surroundings. The course is in beautiful shape save for a few greens fighting fungus or something
Overall an outstanding experience. Especially if a big fancy driving range is not that important to you. Would and will play again on my next visit from the really flat, sandy lies in the Sunshine State around the Tampa, Florida area.

Pro shop staff very friendly
Course is really nice and is in very good shape. We will go back. Going from 9 to 10 can be tricky but after first round there it would be fine. Got behind two groups that were playing terrible and looking for 3 balls out of 4 just about after every shot. Lucky that was just the last 4 or 5 holes. Looking forward to going back.
Nice golf course
Enjoyed playing this course. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great holes, great layout. Some greens had some weed issues.
Good Course - Challenging
Loved the course, the challenges and elevation changes experienced golfing in the mountains. Tee boxes and directions clearly marked on the course.
For a resort, and $85 I expected bag attendants to assist with golf bag loading, unloading, etc. as a Country Club member, that is a given. Having to do the heavy lifting put it on the level of a public golf course in service.
The pro shop staff was very nice when I checked in.
They just punched the greens so they were slow and bumpy but the course layout was excellent and I enjoyed my round.
It’s golf in February. Just do it.
Look, it’s February in GA. I’m a golf pass member so with all the discounts and such, it’s a great deal. If you are a golf junikie who just needs to get a round in, do it! The greens were in great shape. Fairways and tee boxes are ready for the spring sprucing. But everyone was nice and I had the place to myself. If you have kids and are on “ski” break line we are, the serenity is priceless.
Group Fun!
We planned a two day golfing weekend at Kingswood and really enjoyed the weekend. We got a Golf Moose deal , so cost wasn’t an issue. First day was rough due to blind hits. Second day was better. Great views and friendly staff. Amenities were limited. All in all, 4 Star weekend…
The Hills Have Hills
There are some hilly courses and then there is Kingwood. Yes the course has some blind shots; however, it has ca character and uniqueness that I strive to find in golf courses. I remembered most of the holes after the round and most importantly had a blast playing.
Beware the Back Nine
The front nine is a C+/B-. The back nine is an F. To call #17 a golf hole is like calling my toddler’s scribble on an envelope art. Talk about forcing a golf hole where one doesn’t fit! Number 18 is the only acceptable hole on the back. Unless you are playing with people who know the course, good luck. I’ve never hit more blind shots. If you must play the course, ask if you can play the front nine twice. The round was $70! If a friend hadn’t graciously paid my greens fees, I would’ve asked for a refund. $30 or $40 is a more reasonable price for such a course. The greens were also painfully slow. If you’re in the area looking to play, I recommend you look around for other courses.
great course
Great course and staff. Hotel on site . Best value in north Georgia.
