Red Bridge Golf and Country Club

About
Red Bridge Golf & Country Club in Locust is routed through stands of mature trees that give the course a peacefully secluded feel. The layout wanders across gently rolling hills, providing a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. There is a stream that runs throughout the golf course, coming into play on a few holes. The course is seemingly long at 7,100 yards from the back tees but it's more forgiving than it appears, which means players of all skill levels can enjoy the golf course. The design relied heavily on the natural features of the landscape, allowing the course to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings while also shaping natural hazards. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout Red Bridge that complement rather than overtake the natural challenges.

Staff Unfriendly
I live in the area, play the course often with it being so close. The last 4 times I've played the course, the ranger has something smart to say. The most recent time I played, the ranger drove to me 4 times before I reached the 5th hole and told me I was playing to slow and holding everyone up. By the 4th contact from the ranger, I told him I was over it and went to the clubhouse to receive a refund. Staff in clubhouse were unapologetic as well.
Signage
Please beware the distance from hole 4 to 5 is extremely long. The problem is there are 3 turns to get there and only signs of which way to turn on one of the 3 turns. Red Bridge is not putting themselves in the customers shoes. . I like that there are 3 par 3s on the front 9. I totally hate the layout of holes #6 and 8. My buddy hates they do not have holes in on the practice greens. The course is in good shape and rates are very good as other courses have really risen high. So mixed bag for me.
Saturday golf
Solid golf course, really like the layout. Very natural and relaxing. Course is challenging yet forgiving. Staff was very nice.
Good layout spoiled by weedy greens
I have played this course a few times over the last couple of years. It is interesting in design as there are five par5's and par 3's . There are three par 5's in a four hole stretch on the front. The last of these, hole 6, is reachable with any drive of 250 or more. This causes a back up when the tee sheet is full as most everyone tries to go for it. There was a 20 minute wait from the completion of previous hole before we could tee off. #9 is a beautiful short par three, ≈ 160 yards from the tips, over a lake, well bunkered, multi-tiered green. Overall the course favors someone with a left to right ball flight for a right handed golfer. Holes 7, 8, 10, 13, 15, and 17 all bend or dogleg to the right with only hole 3 going to the left.
The defense of the course is in its demanding tee shots and undulating greens. Only a couple of holes are "wide open" for your drive, (2 & 18) and one would be smart to take a 3-wood or less for accuracy over distance in several instances. (7, 8, 10, 12, & 17)
While the greens are part of this courses defense, they are also, currently, their biggest opportunity. Usually, Red Bridge's greens are true and well kept. However, over 50% of them currently have a weed infestation. (Goose grass I believe) This makes balls veer and deviate from their putted line and frustration for the player. On a few, over 1/2 of the green is riddled with this problem with #4 being particularly bad.
Realizing it is spring and I played on a Saturday, I expect a 4 hour round. That said, the rangers could have done more to help the pace of play. For the last 12 holes, the group in front of us was an entire hole behind the group in front of them. We did see a ranger three times, and said something on the 12th hole, but nothing was done to speed up play.
Overall, I would recommend Red Bridge as its layout is unique and challenging. With it being a 50 minute drive from most places in Charlotte, I would wait until they have corrected the weed issue before driving back again.
Nice layout
Fairways and roughs were in winter conditions. Greens held the approach shot well and rolled true. Those that were mowed were medium speed; those that were not mowed were slow. Course is starting to recover from the winter.
Terrible all around experience.
First off, I have been playing this course for years and used to love it.
The course has gone downhill quick and all the do is up their rate. $60 to play Sunday morning and the course was awful. Tee boxes had little grass, greens had weeds all in them and they were extremely bumpy.
My cart died on hole 13, called the pro shop, they asked if I could come in and get a cart because no one was around.....we finish the round, and they have 3 people cleaning 1 golf cart.
Absolute awful experience all the way around when this used to be one of my favorite tracks.

Fair Course
Came to this course because it was highly rated. Greens weren’t in really good conditions with it being May. A lot of blind shots with hills here your ball could roll 50 yards out of bounds on good shots.

Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game, and we will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Red Bridge Golf and Country Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Nice layout
Good layout, greens in good shape just a bit weedy in a few spots, overall very good. Enjoyed the course.
Great course
Piece of play was great until we ran into the foursome in front of us on hole 10. They were so slow and really messed up the back 9. They were fooling around and hitting happy Gilmore shots while taking pictures. This was a great course!
Greens are bumpy and need to remove bad grass
I always enjoy playing here and since it has dried out over the last 2 weeks I played the tips. The only problem I really had was with the greens. Over the last year the miniverde greens have been invaded by small patches of foreign grasses which make the greens bumpy and knock putts off line. This really needs to be cleaned up ASAP!
In the mean time if they rolled the greens and cut the greens down so the foreign grass was the same height as the minverde it would definitely help!

We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Red Bridge Golf and Country Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.

The winter was tough on our greens and was perfect for poa annua, which is what has invaded our greens. We have been working on them and sprayed them numerous times to try and eradicate the poa. The greens should be better within a few weeks. Please check back with us to confirm conditions. Thanks for playing Red Bridge.
Red Bridge Golf Course
I hadn't played here in years, but wanted to try it out again. The staff in the club house were amazing, incredibly helpful. The course itself is a really nice course with a great layout. The greens needed some work, but the tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Course wasn't too crowded and weather was perfect. Highly recommend this course!

Very friendly staff, and wide open layout
-The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming.
-Driving range is in good shape and you can tell they take care of it w/ sand to replace divots when you're done.
-Putting green is comparable in conditions and speed to the actual course (something you don't see everywhere).
-It's very generous off the tee w/ plenty of landing area, especially if you're willing to play each hole as it was meant to be played (rather than trying to cut corners and hit blind shots).
-While the greens were in bad shape w/ lots of Poa Annua throughout, we were given a warning by the staff in the clubhouse upon check-in. The greens should improve as the temperatures start to rise. I can see these greens being fast/true in June/July.
I just need to see the greens get better before I would recommend this course to a friend, especially for $60/round.

Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at Red Bridge Golf and Country Club!
