Serious Ross golf for serious golfers
Donald Ross was a master, ultimately laying out more than 400 golf courses, the vast majority of them in the U.S. Sara Bay is a lovely example of his work: a strong small-city country club layout with nearly a century of service to southwest Florida golfers. All the Ross hallmarks are here: fun hole variety, bold greens and thoughtful bunkering, all of which have been fine-tuned by restoration master Kris Spence in recent years. A canal snakes through the gently rolling property, adding intrigue on several holes. An invite to play here should be accepted with enthusiasm.
A Donald Ross classic
This is an excellent golf course - a great example of a (and a beautifully restored) Donald Ross design. Course conditions were very good and the greens were super fast (especially for this time of year). Signature turtle back and false front greens are a delight to play. A challenging course requiring more than typical strategizing as you make your way around. This is pure golf, and a hidden gem of a club.
tough but fair
great layout. subtle brilliance. D. Ross. One of the best anywhere
I love it
The greens on this D. Ross course are fast and fantastic. The greens are the best I have played this year. You must keep the ball below the hole on these 11.5 greens
The course hosted the ladies pro Symetra Tour this yr and the FL State Mid Am. What a top notch course !
Hidden Donald Ross Gem
Sara Bay CC is one of my favorite courses to play in Florida, and that's a big compliment coming from an avid Floridian golfer. Typical of Donald Ross designs, this course has a lot of up-side down bowl greens that put a premium on your approach shots. The surface of most greens also contain lots of undulations which adds to the charm and challenge of this course. I would also say the fairways are narrow but the course isn't too lengthy even from all the way back so most intermediate golfers can hit 3 wood off the tee when they need to.
