About
Cowan Creek Golf Course is the newest of three courses that are part of Del Webb's Sun City retirement community. Cowan Creek has a resort-style layout with a front nine that plays through the community, with the homes set well back from the fairways, and a back nine that stretches across the scenic Hill Country landscape. The back nine is slightly tougher than the front. Although the golf course is wide-open there are some mesquite trees and cacti that add some scenery throughout. The layout features large landing areas, forgiving fairways, and there are few tricks and hazards, all of which make it an approachable course for beginners. There are some challenges though that will appeal to more experienced players including a few blind shots, elevated greens and tees, and some forced carries. Throughout Cowan Creek Golf Course, golfers will find some interesting risk-reward opportunities.

Nice course
It's a really nice course, which is nice to play as a beginner but also can be challenging for the advanced player.
Fun course, just need some grass in the fairways
Overall fun course, good layout and greens were rolling fast which is a good thing. Tee boxes in good shape too, just wish the fairways actually had some grass. Might as well hit off the cart path, same as the fairways.
But this seems to be an issue for most of the courses in the Austin surrounding areas, they cut the fairways too low in the Fall, grass goes dormant and then screwed for the winter with no grass in the fairways.

Good Golf Course
Cowan Creek GC has nice, wide fairways and great greens. Has a good mix of par 5, 4, and 3s. Sand traps and fairway bunkers are well maintained. Friendly staff. A huge negative is lack of snack, food, and drink amenities. Uses GolfNow for online tee time booking. Not the best choice for their online bookings! All three Sun City courses would be much more efficient with EZLinks, which is less of a hassle and much more user-friendly.

Great shape
Course is in excellent condition considering winter weather. Played in a little over 4 hours.

Great course
Very nice course, good pace of play, and beautiful weather.
They don't have a clubhouse with alcohol - which is the only drawback.

It was my first time playing this coarse. Nice open fairways great greens and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend to my friends.

Entertaining & fun track to play
Didn’t tee off till around 2 so paid for 18 & only got in 9. Other than that negative, course was fun, challenging. Greens were super fast that required some adjust but that made the round more interesting. Wish I had been able to play 18.

Pace of play way to slow
Pro shop must have booked all the golfers for the whole day in a 3 hour window. Got bottle necked really bad after first few holes so every one was standing around for 20 minutes at least before you could tee off. Other then that best course I've played!3

A good Sun City Course
The courses in Sun City, Georgetown are generally well maintained and offer moderate challenge. Cowan Creek fits that description...it is very open and fairly forgiving.

Nice coarse
Coarse is a little dry but not bad , greens are in good shape and fast overall the coarse is a 4 out of five not bad for no rain in the last two months

About what you would expect
This course is part of the Del Webb Community, which is a real estate development for active-lifestyle seniors. As such, it is not overly challenging, but is designed for enjoyment. On that score, It succeeded. The course conditions were excellent (except for a few sand bunkers that were under major repair).

Short Short Short
Short and dry. This course would be really good for beginners because there is almost zero danger from every tee box. I shot -1 and I am usually in the low 80’s on any other course. They really need to water a little more because it is showing early signs of being baked out. The green were not bad but would be perfect with a little more water. All in all it was enjoyable but just not very challenging.

Love this course!
Hadn't played this course for awhile and didn't have a great score but still had a great time. Went to the Mulligans at White Wing afterwards for some brewskis. Wish they would open one up at the other courses.
