The Palisades Country Club

The Palisades is quite quirky. Seems a little cramped being in the residential environment. It had just rained fairly substantially in the last 3 days prior to me playing, but the course had about 36 hours to dry. The greens were not quick, bumpy in areas, and overall in moderate condition. Having bent greens in the south is great but this time of year the course is hindered by its makeup. Firm bermuda greens would make the experience much better. The range is not great and their carts are from the early 2000s.
Staff was very friendly and all the members were very respectful. A little bit better condition would have made the day way better.

This was my first time playing here and it was a great course in really good condition. It plays pretty tight with not a lot of forgiveness if you miss the fairway. I would love to play here again.

I have played many Nicklaus courses and have enjoyed only a few. This was one of them. Intimidating but fair. Wide fairways, but not much room if missed. The woods are groomed and easy to find an errant drive. Greens are typical Nicklaus, lots of slope. Green speed made them very putt-able with no worry of a long come backer. Many drives require a carry to the fairway and are hit from a chute. Not many greens require a carry to reach, which is a nice relief. Par 3 eighth is reminiscent of 16 at Augusta. Overall a fantastic experience in a tranquil, quiet, beautiful upscale neighborhood setting. Highly recommended. Must play twice at least before feeling confident in where to miss.
