Solid Course, Poorly Managed

I enjoy playing this course a lot. It’s fun, simple enough and fairly well taken care of, great in the sun but does struggle a bit with the wet. All at a decent price!

However, the issues arise with the management of the course. The driving range, is nothing special but does the job for a bit of practice, but it’s never open. Some 3G football pitches have been built beside the range and now it’s closed a load of times and the only way to find out the opening times is to phone up each day!

Furthermore, on multiple occasions have I paid to play the 18 holes and ended up only getting to play 15 because they, on occasion, with no explanation or warning, close holes 13,14 & 15. So you still pay full price, a price that has went up again recently, and don’t get to play the full 18.

I think the tee times are also too close together, quite a few people playing this course are high handicappers or beginners, which isn’t an issue. The issue is people 8 minutes behind them, having them panic and have a bad time and ruining their experience of golf.

Lastly, the booking system is setup poorly so, you can only ever book the 18 hole price and not for 9 online. To book 9 holes you have to phone the course you have to go through the council’s phone lines which is a task in itself.

To conclude, Allen Park, as a course is great and can be fun to play. But management needs to take a good look at how they’re operating, make a few changes and it can be an excellent course for all golfers.

Great condition

Given the rain and the time of year, the course was in great condition. But wide of the fairways and ir did get a bit mucky.

New bar and restaurant just opened, which is just what it was missing.

Great course for us want Abe golfers, as well as those with a bit of experience.

Good value course

Much more mature since I last played here a few years ago. Very reasonable rates for an 18 hole course that was reasonably dry, not too difficult or busy. The greens and tee boxes were well looked after and most holes were reasonably straightforward. I didn’t use any facilities so cannot comment. I would describe the course as fairly open, not too fancy and suitable for all handicaps.

Council course ( pay and play)

Great course, good value for the money. Nice layout, some very long par 5s. Great course for the more mature players as the course has no big hills to climb. Staff were very helpful and courteous

Hits the spot especially in dry weather

When the weather's dry this course takes some beating for overall value and quality compromise. Greens in great shape and are always a challenge. Tee boxes and fairways in great shape. The rough is fair and manageable. I love Allen park and IMO it puts many more expensive, snootier courses to shame.
