Don’t try renting a set
Golf course is ok. However we needed to rent 4 sets of clubs and they were a DISASTER. The absolute worst rental sets I have ever seen! The course is ok but if you need to rent a set of clubs, do yourself a huge favor and play elsewhere! They should be ashamed of themselves for charging $16/set. The woods were all dented. One iron set was from 1990. One driver was a short ladies driver. Some of the grips were literally rotting off of the clubs.
Fall Weekend
My wife and I enjoyed a daily round on a Saturday Sunday trip with another couple. We did the same trip last fall and plan to make this an annual weekend for a golf getaway. Course is fabulous in the scenic hills of Tennessee. Great food and accommodations on-site never had to leave the property. If you don’t mind playing the same course each day this is the place to stay and play.
Hidden Gem
Play here several rounds a year, living only 30 min. away helps. My wife booked a stay & play for the Memorial Day weekend, she doesn't play but loves the course. This was a first and the staff could not have been more friendly, from check in to check out. The room was even better than the website pics, course in great shape as always, food is always great as well. If you are passing through or looking for a 5 star course, this is it.
Well worth the trip!
6 of us like going on a golf weekend in early April and were looking for a place a little further south of Lexington, Kentucky and more centralized. We had heard about Woodlake in the past and decided to give it a try this year. And boy, was it worth it! The course is wonderful and the location is fantastic! The staff was incredible and the lodging facilities were well taken care of. We did a stay and play package, arriving on Thursday night and leaving after a round on Sunday morning, playing 36 holes on Friday and Saturday. The pace of play was great and at times it seemed we were the only ones on the course. I really wanted to give this review 5 stars, but just couldn't do it. Through no fault of Woodlake, they had received a ton of rain the week leading up to our visit, so the course was very wet and we played cart path only the entire weekend. Really would like to play this course again when it's dry. Even with it being wet and cart path only, we probably averaged under 4 hours for a round. The only other thing that prevented me from giving this 5 stars was the Grill Room cook. The cook didn't show up on Friday morning for breakfast, so we were forced to make do with a bunch of granola bars we brought along. Then, the same thing happened on Sunday morning. The staff was nice enough to allow us to grab anything we wanted off the counter, so we at least had something to eat, but it was disappointing. But that was not enough to make me shy away from coming back. If you ever find yourself wanting to play a fairly tough round of golf on a beautiful track with wonderful staff, make the drive to Tazewell and play Woodlake!
Hidden Gem, Well Worth the Drive....
Took the family up and stayed overnight in the hotel. Had a patio room by the 10th tee box. The room was very clean and the beds were awesome. We hit the pool on Saturday and my wife and son had a blast. It's very peaceful and relaxing. Everyone that we met including the staff and homeowners were very friendly. I played 9 holes late Saturday evening and basically had the course to myself. We had drinks and dinner ordered from the onsite Steak House. The food was excellent! Sunday morning, me and my son played 9 holes. The course is probably one of the best kept courses I've been on. Every hole was immaculate. The course also sets on Norris Lake, one of the cleanest lakes in the South. We had a great time as a family and can't wait to go back.
A golf "oasis" in the hills of Tennessee
A fitting course for the avg. to slightly above avg. golfer
Great course. Great price. Great shape.
One of the Top Course around the area. Great shape and great price. Will test your game.
