ok day
The only reason why I gave this course a three star and two star for today was because they were sanding the greens and had the front nine closed and so each player had to play the back nine twice which caused him problems of slow Ness and just bad pace of play really. Other than that it’s a pretty decent course
Good summer course
This course is a really good summer course and a very good deal with the twilight hours and prices
Fun day
I played with my brother Kevin, and had the best time. We got lucky and our round was in between rain showers through out the day. I shot an 81 and Kevin a 90 even though he hasn’t played in almost a year. Very fun course, and a memorable round.
Neglected, but there might be hope....
This was my first trip out to Lake Wilderness. We had 2 foursomes and we teed off early, around 7:00am. The weather was overcast with some misting.
My initial reaction was that this course must be congested as there were about 20 people lingering around the tee box on the first hole. I was right. We had to wait to tee off on most of the holes on the front nine. I think some of the groups ahead of us were only playing nine as the pace did quicken up on the back. My suggestion would be to space the tee times out a few more minutes. Also, with not having a driving range, there's really not many places for on deck golfers to hang out.
As for the course... the layout is pretty interesting. It was definitely challenging. For what this course lacks in distance it makes up for with tight fairways and difficult pin placements. There was a decent amount of sand and water but it never really seemed to be very threatening.
The condition was HORRIBLE. The only thing they were watering were the tee boxes and the putting greens. The fairways were mostly dirt with a little bit of dead grass sprinkled on top. You have to be really good at picking the ball clean to play here. Also, you need to add 30 yards to your drives because the ball rolls forever. There were divots all over the place and they did not provide sand/seed on any of the carts. It's almost as if they just don't care. We are in the middle of a drought but this was just ridiculous. On the other hand, the greens were lush and QUICK. They over-watered the greens as well. At least 3 of them had large size puddles in the middle.
As to the facilities, can't really say... They didn't serve food until 11 and we never saw the cart girl.
What this course does have going for it is very reasonable green fees and an interesting and challenging (although short) layout. I may actually give it another whirl mid-fall or next spring.
Easy to walk
Very underrated Seattle course. Played at 615am and spun a 3hr round, walking. Greens in excellent condition (i'm very picky about greens) and the pro said they were rolling around 11. Fairways are good; tee boxes need some grass in spots. Not a very long course but a fun course for all golf ability.
