I'm always a fan of playing from the back tees when they are tucked up in some trees above the fairway like here on #8. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2017

Bad Staff and management and Horrible Conditions
My raincheck was not honored due to a change in staff in-between my rounds which was okay, because of this I was told by the attendant (Liam) that he would issue me $10 off my purchase. It wasn’t taken off the price before check out so I ask what happened. He said it’s the right price (it wasn’t). I got petty while on the course and wanted my money back, I called they said that’s fine then proceeded to not provide me anything when I came in. Through out the process (Liam) was nothing but a poor host. The course condition are nearly as bad as the staff
Could be better
This course was an excellent one years ago. There needs to be quite a lot of work done for it to be a great course again. Most sand traps are terrible. Many of the greens have bare spots. The grass off of the fairway is just tall enough that its difficult to find your ball even a few feet off of the fairway.I'm sure the location does not help. If it were a little closer to town it would probably get more play.Having said that we still enjoy going there as the layout is challenging & the price is fair especially for seniors on Tuesday.
Packsaddle Golf Course
Played here for the first time in several years. The greens are in bad shape with huge bare spots and the 1st cut of grass right beside the fairway is so thick and high that if you are not in the fairway it is really hard to find your ball. Yardages to greens aren’t very visible if they are even there. This place has really went downhill and I doubt that I ever go back.
HORRIBLE!!!
The course is beautiful, until you step on the 1st tee box. the tee boxes are tearing up, the fairways are thicker than most roughs. the roughs might as well be fescue. When you drive the ball down the middle of the fairway and can't find the ball, something is amiss. then the GREENS!!! they are all burnt! They have ONE, yes i said ONE person to cut the grass. One person who runs the proshop AND gets the carts and runs the everything else. I was charged $36 and that was $35 too much. Watch out for the carts, the one we had wouldn't stop on any incline. NO window, brakes were shotty as best. I was very disappointed. I have NEVER left a round early, but after 9 holes I couldn't take it anymore. Do not waste your time. Maybe they should only open on weekends and actually take care of the course during the week.

Don’t do it
Not sure how this place is staying open. Greens were DEAD! Brown patch and dollar spot has completely taken over. The bunkers were unkept, washed out, full of rocks and grass. Not pebbles but actual ROCKS! I have never in my life seen a course in such poor condition. If the right person/company were to come along and put some money into it I think it would be an awesome course. But what I played was absolutely awful. Lost several balls that were less than 5 feet off the fairway. If you missed the green hood luck finding your ball. The second cut looked like it hadn’t been mowed In weeks. The condition of the greens made them completely unplayable. 0/10 I would not recommend ANYONE play here. I would not play again if it was free.
Horrible
Grass hasn’t been mowed anywhere. Super slow greens… fairways and tee boxes not maintained… crabgrass and wire grass throughout.
Save your money
Course has the best potential in the valley with the view an layout. For years it has been going downhill. Always tried it regardless hoping to see it turn around. Left after 14 holes. It's an embarrassment what this course has became. Just shut it down if this is what it's going to be. Will be the last time unfortunately I spend any amount of money here. Take it from a local, stay away from this course unless your just trying to have a beer round with your buddies. If you actually want a golf experience this course is not for you.
Disappointed
The fairways had not been mown in quite a while, and the rough was even worse. It was the tallest grass I had ever seen in a fairway, was deeper than the rough of my home course. I had trouble multiple times finding my golf ball in the fairway. Sand traps had grass two feet high, they were unplayable as traps. Greens were in poor shape, were not being properly maintained, but at least had been mown. Not sure what is the cause, but they have really let it go. It is an interesting latout, and with proper mowing, cared for sand traps and greens, would be a 4 ot 4.5.
Don’t play
This course looks like it must have been nice in the past but it’s not now. Grass is tall everywhere including the fairways. Greens are splotchy and slow.
Starting to try again.
When the course is maintained it's difficult (very hilly and dense trees lining most fairways) with a couple of holes with spectacular views and lots of wildlife. When it's not, it's borderline unplayable -- tee boxes that would classify as rough on other courses, shaggy greens, hard as a rock bunkers, and rough so long & thick that you regularly lose your ball if it lands even a pace off the fairways or greens. The course has been in rough shape each spring for several years now, but absolutely atrocious this year (manager said staffing and equipment issues to blame). Played it again today and they've started to mow again. Slowly getting the fairways and rough back to playable heights, but still not there and lots of cut grass laying around. A couple more weeks of effort and these could be back to okay. Greens will take more time as several have diseased patches. Good news: manager said if you book from them directly their fees are less than normal for July as they try to get it back into playing shape.
It's Gone
The ups and downs at Packsaddle continue. Mostly downs for now. Poor, poor greens; extremely slow, burned out in many, many places. Tee boxes unkempt. Rough was US Open deep having not been mowed for weeks. Weeds in the bunkers, no sand, carts without a charge and so on. One employee working, one other mowing.... It's not worth a ten dollar bill to play.....
Worst course ever
Worst course ever
This was the worst course we have ever played. We are 65 years old and have been playing golf all our lives. The greens were shaggy at best the fairways for so long, we lost three balls that we knew were in the fairway somewhere. If you hit the ball in the rough, lost ball. And oh by the way we only played nine holes. The golf attendant in the pro shop said they couldn’t get help. If they don’t have help to take care of the course, close the course. Worst all-around conditions ever.
Disgusting golf course condition
We attempted to play this course today. Drove 40 minutes from our campground. Paid for 18 holes w/cart. The course was in such horrible condition, that we only played 9 holes. We were going to continue to play through 18 for the practice & exercise. It was so bad, we just gave up.
Extreme lack of any kind of maintenance from T box to fairway to sand trap to greens. Zero maintenance. Lost balls in the fairway, rough was so deep you couldn’t even begin to hit your ball even if you were lucky enough to find it. There are some pictures on their FaceBook page from other disgruntled players. We were not the only players on the course that were disgusted. I asked the manager, when we turned the cart in after 9 holes, “so what is your excuse for the condition of this course?” Of course he said - lack of help. I said, “restaurants close when they don’t have enough help. They don’t continue to suck money out of people.” I sympathize with the “no help” excuse - been there, done that but $65 for a horrible day is ridiculous. They better get a handle on that course or they’re going to loose the greens they have left. I’m sure at some point in time it was a gorgeous course - NOT NOW. So sorry we didn’t take any pictures - I think we were dumbfounded. Worse course we have ever played. We are 65 yrs old.
I'm sure was once a great course
What a beautiful view, that's it. The course has been neglected. Tee decks are beyond rough. Fairways are more like pasture. Green are patches of greens. I left after 12 holes, I'm sure pre covid this course would have been something to play. Tons of potential.
Wish I had played it 5 years a go
The course is rough all round. The fairways for most part are more like rough. The tee decks are terrible, some greens are terrible condition. It would be pleasure to play it got some TLC. Beautiful layout and design. Just rough, rough, rough.
