Horizon Golf Course
I enjoy playing this course, always up to par. Greens and fairways are always in great condition. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Complete Failure
Reserved a 1:40 PM Tee time. Arrived at 1:00 PM to check in early and get warmed up. At check in I was told they have no buckets or balls available. I asked if I could get my cart so I can load out and head to the practice green. I was told there are no carts available and I would need to wait for availability closer to tee time.
At this point I accepted it for what it is and went to the practice greens.
10 minutes prior to tee time I go looking for my cart so I can load out. I’m then told still no carts and there are 4 other groups that are waiting to tee off. All tee times from 1:00 PM forward are still waiting to play.
Long story short, I asked for a rain check and I was told no. I asked to be rescheduled to another day and I was told no availability. Basically, wait to play is the only option. At this point I would have started play around the 2:30 PM on a overpacked course with a sunset time around 5:30 PM. Probably would’ve gotten in 9 holes at the best. I didn’t feel like arguing just to get nowhere and I also didn’t feel like waiting on an over trafficked course surrounded by impatient golfers, so I left.
Don’t bother coming to this place on the weekends . They overbook and don’t care who plays as long as they get their money.
It used to be better but now it’s not worth it. Pay the extra $10 and go to Lone Star or Painted Dunes. You’ll actually get to play your tee time and the facilities are just as good.
Not bad
Needed tee signs and better directions from greens to tee. Very confusing in many areas between holes.
Do not play this course
Visited family in El Paso and gave this course a try. It is the worst laid out course in history. There is zero signage and holes are all over the place. It took us 20 min to fine the ninety hole! As a first time player of this course I’ll never go back. Pace of play is very slow and no Marshalls in sight. The course conditions is ok overall but many better courses out there than this one.
Thursday golf
The fairways were cut and green. The greens were very fast . The tee boxes were a little dry but okay.
Waited on every tee box due to all the fivesome and sixsome groups playing. If you are from out of town, play with a local because the layout is confusing.
The course was in great condition.
Pace of play super slow
They have marshals that don’t go doing their job, had a group of 5 walking (which 5s aren’t allowed) playing as if they’re on the PGA waiting for furthest shot out to hit and waiting forever to hit off the tees. Like guys come on this is at a local not no TPC pick it up and play ready golf or let other pass you, took 30 mins to get thru 2 holes. Marshals need to do their jobs and make sure pace of play is kept up with. 2nd time in a row this happens except this time we just skipped them to the next hole and got done in 4 hours , if it wasn’t for that I’m sure we would’ve been around 5-515 pace like the last time, even the groups behind us were starting to skip them as they were showing up behind us.
