Woodhaven Country Club

About
The ever-busy Leon Howard came to Woodhaven in 1969 to build this par 71 6,565-yard layout. Howard’s traditional design features narrow-tree lined fairways, a significant amount of hills, out-of-bounds lining the fairways, and many challenging doglegs.
The best stretch of golf occurs on the front, with a genius combination of holes in Nos. 6-8. The par 3 No. 6 requires a carry of 200 yards to clear the water, and No. 7 takes plenty of strokes to reach the green 569 yards away. No. 8 is a 426-yard par 4 that plays uphill into a narrow fairway.
On the back, the 190-yard No. 17 features a lake along the left side of the hole–it’s one of only a few holes on the course with water.
Getting there : From I-30 east, take the Oakland Blvd. exit and turn left. When you come to Bridge St., turn right and head over to Country Club Lane. Turn left and the course is just down the road.

Awful
This has to be the worst course I have ever seen. The course is frankly not taken care of at all. Weeds everywhere and the greens in horrible shape. Our cart also died mid round. You also have to pay to hit on the range and warm up after you’ve already paid to play the course. It’s ridiculous. The staff is very friendly though. That is the saving grace of this course. Yes, it is cheap. But please, spend the extra few dollars and play elsewhere. You’ll thank me later.
Course needs to be remodeled
My nephew and I decided to play a round of golf and found this place on Golfnow app. I paid roughly $90.00 for 2 player green fee with a cart. Upon arrival, the course was not very busy so the pace of play was good. This being a country club, I would’ve thought the course would be in good, if not better, condition then what it was. First, I had to do a walk around the golf cart to identify damages, if there was any, prior to getting the keys almost like picking up a rental car. This was the first for me even having been at other country clubs. After getting the cart, the score card didn’t event have an overview of how the course was laid out. We had no idea where the first tee box was located, or even how the flow of the course went, but was able to get a round in. The tee box were decent, fairways were fair with it being the winter. However, the greens were not anywhere near useable and not being worked on. As others have stated the temporary greens are in front of the actual greens and created on the fairway. There are a lot of ant mounds on the “green”. There is a hole with a flag and the surface is darker than the fairway, but it’s still plays like the fairway. We even putted from the fairway because it’s almost the same.
Overall, course, greens and even areas of the cart paths needs work. Scorecards could be better with course overview. It was a good experience played here, but I don’t think I will be coming back soon. It’s over priced for the state of the course. This is a prime example of you don’t get what you pay for. I hate to say this, but I do agree with several others when they say, find a better course. I wish I would taken pictures of the fairway/greens.
Great Experience
Have played the course several times. The greens are under winter construction, but the temporary greens are good. The money paid ($45.00) on a weekend is a very good value on this course. I will play this course as often as possible.

Boggles my mind how anyone can give a course with temporary greens four stars. I question the validity of this review.
Do NOT waste your time coming here
I have been playing golf for several years, and to be honest, there isn’t much positive things I can say about this course. The one thing I can find is the staff is somewhat friendly. First off, it cost 50$ to play here, which when you look up pictures on Google, it seems fair. What you don’t know is that their greens are OUT OF SERVICE. They have temporary greens, in the fairways, with the worst grounds keeping I have seen ever in the DFW metroplex. No seriously, I recommend Lake Park 18 way over this course. Which, Lake Park has picked up their game lately. Anyways, I would maybe pay 5$ to come back out here to play, if that included the cart fee. Seriously, Do not waste your money here. I hope this course makes a comeback. They should not even be selling Tee Times. In the picture I linked below, I circled the actual Conditions of the Greens in Red! The greens you see with the pin are actually fairways,
The course has great bones...
Must have been a spectacular course at one time but has unfortunately fallen into disrepair. The club house, driving range, pool and tennis courts looked great but were empty. All the greens have been lost with temp greens placed just in front of them. A little investment and I'd play this course twice a month. It has that much potential..

We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are working very hard on projects to improve the course and hope you'll bear with us. Thanks for visiting Woodhaven Country Club. We hope to see you again in the future.

Worse course ever
Left after the 5 hole. Just don’t go here. Spend an extra $10 bucks somewhere else and have a decent course to play on.

Not worth the money
Worst course I’ve ever played at. Obviously greens are under “construction”, but no way should this be over $30 to play here. Shouldn’t be more than $25 max to play here with these “temporary greens”. Nobody was there, not surprised, but horrible playing conditions, could be so much nicer if kept up with.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. Our course staff is working hard to bring the course back to its full potential, so we appreciate your patience and hope to see you out here again soon.
Oh Well
Years ago this was one of the first tracks I played with my wife. I love the challenge, but they need to get the greens right.

Would be a great course in better conditions
Temporary greens, terrible rough, just not in good shape

Hello, mk8q16ophx6520497. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars. We have projects underway to recover the tee boxes, fairways, greens, and sandtraps. We hope you'll bear with us through this transition and give us another try in the near future. Thanks for choosing Woodhaven Country Club.
Pretty sure they are shutting down
One of the worst courses I’ve ever seen. I think they may be closing because all the greens had sand all over them, and the tee boxes had dandelions in them. The “temporary greens” which were not advertised were just a pin in the middle of the fairway. The clubhouse manager wasn’t even there when we showed up at 9:30 which is pretty late for a Saturday. The greens they did have were worse than the temporary greens. We were told in the clubhouse the rough wasn’t too bad, except for the fact if you are 5 yards off the fairway you can’t find your ball because of the lack of maintenance. Would not suggest spending any money here and was upset with what was described on the website about the course description.

We are sorry to learn you did not enjoy your experience with us. We apologize for not communicating about the temporary greens in advance. Our course staff is working hard to make sure your golfing experience is up to par and we have different projects in the works, so we appreciate your patience and understanding in the meantime.
Course should be closed!!
Couldn’t believe how bad of shape this course was in. The front 9 has the “greens” in the fairway infront of the actual greens that are closed. The greens on the back are worse that the greens in the fairway on the front. Also, the rough was insanely thick with tons of weeds and leaves, literally impossible to find your ball. Paid $64 to play from a Hot Deal promotion and seeing it was a Country Club was expecting good golf. I highly recommend not spending your money here.

Hi, Webb16. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. We have projects ongoing to recover the fairways and greens. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. Thank you for playing Woodhaven Country Club. We hope to see you again soon.
