Fun
I like the used the terraces and hills each tee felt unique. Greens play slower than most in today’s courses.
Walking could be tough not just because of the hills but the tee to box distances are very long.
Improved ... Strong Layout
Might be a bit visually intimidating (due to long rough) to the mid-range or beginning golfer, but very fair and forgiving. The bunkers were a little rough in places, but overall conditioning was solid. Second time playing, and better than I'd remembered but the price feels a tad high imho ($65 Fri-Sun). Worth the drive from Omaha and on the rise me thinks!
Great Course! Short drive from Omaha
What a fun day, course was challenging due to the winds...greens and fairways are in tremendous shape. Looks like a few bunker upgrades going on that will be a big plus. GREAT golf for the money, would definitely recommend.
A GREAT COURSE
Played here several times this year. I have to admit the start of the year was not promising the greens were not up to standards. However, as the year progressed the course really improved. The greens though not super fast are decent.
The course has new owners and they seem to really be proud of the place. I seen him out mowing the other day.
I would love to play it every day. It is probably the nicest course in WESTERN IOWA HANDS DOWN.
GREAT DESIGN. WORTH THE DRIVE.
If it were in the Sandhills we would be paying $200 to play it and talking about how great it is.
Noticeable improvements due to new ownership
I can't disagree with the other reviews pre-2015. However the new owner doesn't appear to have any qualms about returning Bent Tree to the top tier of Omaha/CB area public courses.
The carts are new with GPS, the clubhouse interior redone but most importantly course maintenance has vastly improved, most noticeably the sandtraps. The sand has been replaced in nearly every bunker and I'm sure by next year it will be all bunkers. The fairways are perfect, especially for November (it was 80 degrees Nov 2 2015!).
The greens however are still a work in progress, which is why I didn't give it five stars. I am quite optimistic that they will be much improved by next year. The staff is more professional. I never had any issue with them in the past but it is obvious there is a sense of course pride that wasn't there before.
The only change I don't like is not leaving some carts in the parking lot. There is no bag drop and it's a decent uphill walk carrying a cart bag.
Seniors over 55 pay $25 M-F which in my mind makes it a no brainer. Even at full price it's a good value. Bent Tree is seldom as crowded as other Omaha area courses. That may change in the future.
Decent Layout and Challenging
Course conditions are less than adequate. Sand traps have not been maintained for quite some time, basically mud and our group treated like a lateral hazard (with a free drop). Staff is less than enthusiastic. Course layout is challenging and the course is fun to play with some good views. Like most of the courses in the Omaha area, if the decision of the course superintendent’s is to save money and not maintain the sand bunkers, they should strongly consider removing them completely and mow the area or keep as a grass bunker. Very discouraging in this area when you pay $50+ for 18 holes and you can't hit out of bunkers when you make a mistake of hitting into one.
Extremely open course
Used to be far and away the nicest course in Council Bluffs, IA, but in recent years it has seemed to go downhill. Wide open course with hardly any trees. Fun course to really break out the driver.
played here again yesterday and every time I go here i really have a great time.
