Stunning Views in the Mountains
I played here as a guest in the Spring of 2021.
It is a fully private club in the center of the city of Medellin called Club El Rodeo. The Club's primary course and main clubhouse facility are located in the heart of the city of Medellin. This is a second course owned by the club that is ~45 minutes outside of the city up in the mountains.
Much more tranquil than the main course in the city. Beautiful views of the surrounding area. Lots of beautiful holes with a fair amount of water throughout the course.
The greens and fairways were in IMPECCABLE shape when I played, as I believe the club had just reopened after being closed for 9 months due to COVID.
The club is gated, unless you are a guest of a member or your hotel has specifically arranged and confirmed a tee time, you will not be allowed to pass the front gate.
The course has some significant changes in elevation thorughout the round, but is not as sloped as the main course in the valley. The layout is more similar to courses in the midwest / northern US (whereas the city course is more similar to the Southeast US with the slopes and firmer greens).
No carts, only caddies (which are ~$15). I highly advise taking a caddie since they are generally very helpful and will assist in guiding you around the course.
This location does not have the amenities that the city course has. The clubhouse is very pretty and seemed recently renovated, but all they have is a small restaurant, driving range, and a nice patio. Lovely location but none of the amenities of the larger clubhouse in the city.
Overall a lovely round, course was in really good shape (probably slightly better shape than the city course). Definitely worth playing both courses - I understand why the members have chosen to have two courses. Both very beautiful but very different experiences!
